is this exhaust good or crap? and why?

what exhaust does everyone use?

the stocker just strangles the turbo. when i have the money the next thing i do is exhaust. it doesn't have to be stainless.

thinking of building my own. i have welder and summit racing is like next door. never built exhaust before. one scale of 1 to 10(10 hardest) from those of you who have done this; HOW HARD was it.

I built exhaust for another car. If 10 is SUPER HARD, then building exhuast is a 4-5. There is nothing Hard about it, you only need what, 2 bends maybe 1 piecut for the miata. It just takes time and if you don't have a lift/pit it's a pita.

well damn, you've got a welder? make it yourself, no question. buy a magnaflow from braineack and some piping and flanges and hangers from summit and get to it.

I built the exhaust on my car, it's not perfect, but it certainly works. I'm getting ready to redo it.. 100% stainless with vband flanges this time around, going to be balla.. no more bird turd mig welds!

custom mufflershop special turbo back 2.5" with a summit turbo muffler flanged. 400$ total or 200$ catback including labor.

I think buying an exhaust system is a waste, I'd rather give my money to a small shop

on club roadster someone just got one of these

it's one of those things, most of the exhaust shops don't have a mandrel bender.. or stainless pipe for that matter.

if i were you i'd go to harbor freight and buy a tail pipe expander for like 9 bucks, and buy all the stainless steel bends and a couple straight pieces. throw them together and put a couple tack welds just to make sure they don't come apart under high stress. problem sloved.

don't tack it, either clamp it, or really weld it.. i did that on my first exhaust.. tacks held for about 10 minutes..

I ended up clamping it, and calling it a day.

no thats totally true, I did a straight exhaust and had him use mandrel pieces leftovers for the area around the axle

and its not stainless, which for me isnt as important. still, finding a shop to either use the materials you bring or they have is more appealing to me than buying one.
