well my beast is back on the road after a long [extended] winter rebuild
running good [268 whp/mustang dyno, flat torque curve]
still have some fine tuning to do

had an series of issues with the deletion of the CAS and installation of VVT head, LS1 coils, and MS2e [w/vcm]

first, no tach signal from LS1 coils [solved with a GM tach driver] - feel free to chime in if you know of a better option, but support your opinion with factual information

second, the MS2e [with integrated VCM [valve control module] smoked itself shortly after install, not on the first day, but within the first week [plan to return it to the builder, who is a member on this forum, for post-mortem and repair, will decide after repair if I will attempt to install it again or offer it for sale.]

obtained a separate VCM from DIY to add with the DIY-PNPMS that I reinstalled, but could never get it to communicate correctly with the NB crank sensor and VVT valve sensor so reinstalled the CAS on the VVT head

somewhere along the way the tach on the instrument cluster decided to quit, so looking at a instrument cluster repair or replacement - anyone else have any experience with this issue? any comment, opinions, tests to undertake to validate the assumption that the instrument tach is dead

net result - overall happy with the VVT flat torque - starts at 3000 and pulls strong [flat curve] all the way to redline

why are you not running the tach directly from the MS tach output? I'm on LS2 coils and that's what I'm doing. Just run a wire directly from the MS to your gauge cluster and make sure tachout is on in tunerstudio

that was my question also, but never received a satisfactory answer from the shop that did the rebuild/install
but now I have the car in my garage, I will be tracing the circuits, and making adjustments as needed
the MS is generating tach signal, because TS is displaying rpms
