FYI for damaged AN/JIC flares
I (like an idiot) nicked a male flare which is welded to the component (don't weld flare bungs).
I didn't want to disassemble, cut, and re-weld so I sought an alternative "fix". I spoke to a guy who operates a race car chassis repair biz and he said the local guys have been running Flaretite seals on beat-up JIC fittings with good results. They're not cheap, but they might save you a headache.
I can't confirm whether they worked for me since I didn't attempt to run the fitting without the seal.
