Default Has Anyone Heard Of Microtech?

hey everyone i've been looking around for a ecu for my 03 miata and i came upon this MiceoTech... my friend told me it works great for cars like mine and the way he would wire it up to my car is by using my factory cables... i went to there website and there ecu's look pretty decent, i just don't have the knowledge to really know it this is right for my car and my turbo setup..
i was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this and if you can help me out... the base price is about 1200 dollars and he's giving it to me for 700, he said he has it in his volkswagon right now..
thanks for all your help

Screw that. $700 for something like that? You can get an AEM FIC that does pretty much the same thing for ~$350 new. Or you can go EMU. Both of them are piggybacks and both are cheaper. You could make the AEM FIC plug an play with a boomslang harness for less than $600 and it will also use your stock sensors. You'll still need a wideband but with the FIC you can use whatever wideband you want.

Or there is megasquirt. You could wire it in parallel and let it control you fuel and ignition as well. It will let you remove your maf, run larger injectors, and it's based on MAP. It will read your stock sensors as well. You have all kinds of options all are better choices and cheaper.

I don't know much about it but I do know it is widely used in some circles. COuld you post up a link to some more info about it so people here might be able to make a more informed reccomendation

It might be the best ECU in the world, but considering for the same price there are widely supported options I would vote no. I dont agree with being different just to be different.

I'd Pass, Microtech ECU's are far from the cats' meow. You'd get a lot more for the money from even a Haltech. Seriously, if it were my money and I was gonna shoot for the lower end of the ECU spectrum it would be.

Low End ECU's

1. Megasquirt
2. Haltech

Higher End ECU's

3. AEM
4. Hydra
5. TEC-III <- I like it best but it's $$$ and it's not best for everyone.

If I wanted a Piggyback I would consider the E-Manage Ultimate, The Xede, or Haltech's version.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Halte...4294QQtcZphoto

Brand Spanking New $1100.

Or for $800 you can get the Haltech version of the Xede.

I didn't say you could use the FIC, plus wiring is easy enough. If you are looking for something plug and play for the 03, just buy a hydra.

shameless plug:

$1200 for my used TEC3 + new ignition, including trigger wheel, mount, pickup, spare pickup, and NA factory CAS
does not include MAP, IAT, and CLT sensors.
