It's year 2021 and I'm in a search of trying to find out how much psi my 97 miata with completely stock internals can take and I found this site with very useful information. I would also like to add to this thread that with my setup with MP62 FFS cold side supercharger I am currently running 15psi with Snow Performance water methanol injection and it is running strong for about 10 months now. I am planning of going to 18psi sometime next year if my car survive. :-)

I wonder if there will ever be a time where this thread stops getting necro'd???

For the people coming in 2022 or 2027 the PSI number is all but useless when determining when your stock engine will grenade itself. It's much more dependent on turbo/supercharger size, your use case, and your tune. Someone running a giant turbo could vent their block at 7 PSI or if you are a prude and don't drive your car hard, your 300k mile 1.6 could take 20psi and last indefinitely. There's never going to be a you can run x amount of boost and be ok no matter how many of your friends are running 69psi on a Borgarret Precision 2989 china charger.

I just re-read this thread again in full. I love how people gravitate towards this thread from google and necro it over and over. And it's so genuine, just noob forum users that signup to ask a question and bump this thread.
