Default intake manifold project on the cheap-ish

$135 delivered. The runners on this manifold (Magnus 4g63, 75mm tb bore) actually converge with the runners on the stock FE manifold. Four cuts, some welding and grinding should show an improvement over the current arrangement. Granted the runner ends aren't rolled, but for the price...

Well, my point was to start a build thread. But hellzyes! you can't buy the parts to make half this manifold for that price. My guess is the same thing can be done with some of the Honda manifolds - you just need to take some measurements. Apparently this manifold starts choking the engine at ~500whp.

the port spacing on the 1.8L blocks should match the B16 pretty close.

An easy mod is to buy the Eldelbrock IM for a Honda b16 and cut off the flange and weld on a new one for the miata head.

a lot of IM projects going on this winter.

If anybody has a 100% image file of the 1.8 intake manifold flange/gasket, I'll lay it over the flange on this manifold to see how close it comes.
