Default Intercooler help

I am trying to mount the intercooler on my 2001 miata. I have a bunch of A/C crap right against the radiator on the right side so mounting the intercooler flush or close to the radiator isnt an option (unless i want to pull the a/c). My intercooler is also on the big side at 26x6x3. What have other nb owners done to mount intercoolers ? I am thinking of pulling the tow hook things out and mounting something between them but it seems like a pain.
Any help would be great, i would like to get this stage of the project done with and get on to stuff thats a little more fun.

Those towhooks are affectionately known as "baby teeth". No respectable Miata owner keeps them. Take them off and toss them.

There's there's really no reason to insist upon mounting the intercooler flush against the radiator. A couple inches in front won't affect performance in the least. You should have no problem finding room in there.

Mine is a '93, but yours can't be that much different. I fabricated a mount with a piece of aluminum stock and some threaded rods. The rods go through two holes I drilled in the brace on either side of the hood latch, and the ends of the stock attach where the short rods that stabilize the end of the bumper lip go.

If you can't fit the thing centered, try mounting it off-center such as FM does to move to away from the A/C Dryer.

If it doesn't fit, it's too big! People go way overkill on their coolers, if you ask me.

You mean no respecting miata.netter keeps them.

I've got mine still on the car.

And I thought all along I was in the presence of "greatness"... well, maybe "really goodness" is closer. I'll forgive you baby-teeth keepers for now... but don't let me near your car with a crescent wrench or I may not be able to help myself.

Atlanta is right... we overkill our IC's around here, but it sure is nice to fill up the entire grill.

It looks good, but it was almost 100* here the other day and I was overheating like a biatch with no airflow through there!

Don't think that is his problem. The IC is 26" wide.

sorry to disagree with this guy but don't toss them, these hooks saved my car when a BMW cut me off on the highway once. My car started fishtailing and I hit a wall at 80mph... guess what, no damage to the car other than a scrape on the bumper and a bit of misalignment on the hood...

ya i think i kinda realize at this point my intercooler is much too big but the last thing i want to do is try to return it and or purchase a new one. I'm gonna try to make this thing work. Also i see people mainly routing their intercooler lines either over the top of the radiator or down below and around the radiator at the bottomm; is there any reason people dont route them to the side under the headlights or atleast near them? I was looking at this earlier and it seems the simplest way to route.

Yeah, but you have to cut up your chassis to do that. I'd rather not.

I'm going to route mine behind the headlights, its honestly the easiest looking way to do it

People here don't oversize their ICs, they undersize their turbos.
