I meant if you build one Ill buy it. Shipping to Canada is so much. While I like the Enthuza systems don't want to spend that much. Up here most shops want $500-$600 for a custom exhaust and thats just for aluminized !

I have an enthuza, but I want quite. So I'm hacking off the muffler and fitting the megamuffler.

I called around and the shops are willing to weld me up even if I provide bends. I found out that in Alberta the closest mandrel bender for 3" is 1.5 hours away and they have almost doubled the cost of the bends which gets past onto me.

Is there a definitive list of all the bends one would need to buy ?? If so then I can drop all the parts at the shop and save a bundle.

I did a quick search and see the CR has kits. Can anyone enlighten me as to what package will work for my NB?

ps - this is great - hopefully I can save a few hundred this way - thanks !!

depends on how tight you get it to the body, the style of your muffler, the layout you want, etc.

i made my catback with ~10 feet of pipe and 1 180 bend. plus one 15 degree pie cut.

That being said, my exhaust is very similar to that of an RS*R with a magnaflow 6" diameter x 14" (body length) muffler and a magnaflow 3" cat.

It will be a DP back all 3" - no CAT, and the 5X11X22 Magnaflow as recommended here.

Should I start a new thread - "what bends needed for DIY exhaust" or let this run ?

Once the year of car, DP style, diameter of tubing, size and placement of muffler is picked out the bends should be pretty standard and the shop can slightly tweak the rest I would think.

I was getting quotes of $50-$60 per mandrel bend up here - !!

Well, assuming you go to columbia mandrel, a 3" bend in stainless will be ~30$ plus 10$ ship (average, one bend would be a flat rate of 25$) + a month wait + possible duty.

Yep, sounds about right

has anyone else done any side by side logging or dyno work comparing a high flow chambered muffler (like my Magnaflow XL) vs a straight through? the only data i see posted is this:

How about when I went from a 2.25" borla dual, to a 3" magnaflow straight...

Wowsers. I detect a significant change in tune as well though, your AFR is much leaner which = significantly more power in my experience. I went from 240whp to 275whp simply by leaning things out a bit. same boost level, same spark map

just fuel tuning, spark maps were the same. oh yeah, i did DIY port my head a little. other than that the setup was identical. could have been slightly more boost as it was creeping, but still, spool alone was significant.

Landrew,

You can buy magnaflow mufflers with no shipping and duty cost at http://www.magnaflowstop.com/

They are a notch more expensive than peddler but at least you don't have custom fees

I saw similar improvements in spool going from a flowmaster type muffler to a cherry bomb raptor "turbo style" muffler.

Name: JonRiel08.gif
Views: 113
Size: 39.2 KB

spools like a **** and hits set boost around 3800 (~23psi). spools a little slower on the dyno.

my muffler apparently looks like this inside, with no packing:
