Tim, how did you learn to do that? Did you just "go for it" or did someone teach you?
Build a manifold? Yeah I just did it. I'm self taught in all my fab stuff. I got tired of paying a shitload for junk parts.
My greddy manifold cracked and so I ordered an FM2 kit. Kit arrived minus one big part (I forget which). After a few months of waiting for that part I said fuckit. Returned the FM kit and used the money for the welder. I think that's how it went anyway. I actually advertized that FM kit on the old greddyturbofaqs forum. Man that's going back a while.
I splurged on a good welder, Lincoln TIG 185. I used an air cutoff tool/thing for this manifold for the first time. All my other manifolds I used a dremel tool and standard cutoff wheels. I would go thru a sleeve but it doesn't take as long as you'd think. The air tool felt faster but liked to whip out of my hand so it took me longer to do it. The second half of the manifold took half the time, once I got used to the air tool.
And a die grinder, chop saw, and bench grinder with a low-grit wheel for grinding the sections into shape after I cut them with the dremel. Everything's craftsman and old. That's really it so far.
Oh and I used my dad's bearing press to make the primaries oval where they meet up with the head flange. I guess that's important to add.
The timer says 7 hours total.

Guess that's the best part of welding, you are supposed to go outside of the lines a little and you can always smooth up a rough cut with a grinder.
They should have taught us to use powertools in kindergarten, we'd have been better off.
