Default My Turbo Plan

For one of my first posts I'd like to list out my prospective turbo build. Been doing a ton of reading on here and have a pretty good idea of what I want to do. My plan is to be as close to 200whp as possible, spend ~$1500 with everything and have it as reliable as possible. The car is a 95 with 117k on it and will be used for drift. A/C will be removed but I want to retain the PS. Below is what I have planned for the turbo kit.

-OBX T3 Manifold
-China T3 Turbo .48 a/r internally gated
-ebay FMIC
-greddy type-s bov
-RX7 460cc High Impedance Injectors
-adjustable FPR
-190hp walbro fuel pump
-2.5'' dp
-2.5'' exhaust

As far as engine management I am looking into MSPNP. I'm hoping to get a PM back from Braineack soon. Been on the search for a used one in the classifieds. If anyone else has suggestions on another stand alone let me know!

I blew up the pinion bearing on the stock torsen sliding the car within the first week of owning the car. I have since put in a Tomei 2-Way with all new bearings all around.

I have a Comp Stg 2 Clutch on order that should be on Tuesday. Any thoughts on flywheel? I plan on keeping the stock flywheel unless you guys have good reason for me to go with a lightened one.

The little misc. parts will be collected as I find them on local forums and on craigslist. Only thing I need/want are a nice boost gauge and AEM uego.

Any thoughts regarding my build please share! Thanks guys.

Ditch the fuel pressure regulator, you don't need it.

The manifold is going to last ~ 1 month or less. Get something better. Buy my greddy setup

But seriously, try Abe or fm for $750ish then buy a churbo, or BeGI has a kit for $1040 that comes with a churbo.

Yay for MS! Good newb.

I will take the AFPR out of my list of things to acquire.

Going back and forth about manifolds and am greatly considering a Begi manifold.

Anyone else building the megasquirt to be pnp beside Braineack?

I disapprove of your:

Manifold, BOV, injector, and fueling delivery choice.

what do you think I should go with? I am all ears since this will be my first miata turbo set up. I have the injectors and BOV from previous cars. Do you think I should go with the 255 pump?

Meh, I wouldn't. If this were a NA car I might consider it. $350 or whatever it costs is too much for not enough difference if you ask me. I had the weight ring lathed off my stock flywheel to save ~4lbs, but only because it was free. You could look into doing that if you have any machine shop connections.

The Brain is being picking about the injectors, but he's otherwise right. Although I don't know enough about BOVs. And you're already getting rid of the AFPR.

I would go no fuel pump and run megasquirt and get a better manifold; preferably one that lasts more than two weeks.

appreciate the info. that's exactly what I was thinking. Just going to have mine resurfaced.

If Brain or Reverant can't build you one, let me know and I can probably crank one out for you.

Update on my parts scavenging. Got a flyin miata manifold, china gt2560, artech downpipe and custom 3" inch exhaust.

Now I need order the exh manifold gasket, turbo to mani gasket and the coolant/oil lines.

Been reading non stop on the DIYPNP MS. I decided that I am going to build my own. I think a few more days of reading and I'll be pretty set. I'll most likely have a question or two on the MS.

Question on the DIYPNP and what I have to buy for my 95 to have it a stand alone with sequential injection. Below is what I plan on buying. Can someone let me know if I need to add anything to it or if I don't have to buy something on that list.

-DIYPNP Nippon Denso 76pin Unassembled Kit
-MegaSquirt Tuning Cable (DB9 Straight Thru)
-USB to Serial Adapter - Works with MegaTune! _~~If I get this do I have to get the tuning cable listed above or can this plug right into the MS unit and can i run a USB extension cable?
-PCBv3 and v2.2 -- Relay Control 'ModKit' (VTEC, TVIS, Fans) _~~ Is this the right kit for me to run my fans? I will be eliminating the A/C.
-PCBv3 -- PWM IAC Valve Control (TIP120) 'Mod-Kit' _~~Is this the correct mod kit to get or should I get 'DIYPNP Upgrade: Stepper IAC driver mod kit'?
-DIYPNP Upgrade: Sequential Injection Kit
-MSPNP and DIYPNP IAT Sensor Kit - Aluminum Bung

What is your budget? I am assuming low with the quality of parts on your list?

yes, i'd like to keep the cost of this build as low as possible. Most money goes towards my E36. MS seems to be the best most cost effective engine management out there with very good results.

May I ask why you ask? I see you're in Chicago as well..

For the price I don't think you can get much better then a MS, unless you can snag up a used AEM. I am actually going to be selling some parts you might be interested in, like some fuel parts.

Hit me with a PM with what you got for sale or a link to a for sale thread. Thanks!
