Default Need opinions about injectors

I have a set of 305 supra injectors, but I'm debating whether I should send these out to get cleaned, or pick up a set of cleaned 265cc 1.8 injectors for $40. I'm looking for ~170-180 hp on a AFPR setup. What do you guys think? Which would you work with?

I used zip ties split to strap the injectors to the rail, then put the assembly in a big ziploc with fuel hose and harness coming out. Put some air pressure on the fuel hose and then "tripped" the harness with 12v to verify spray/action.

Yup. Get them tested. A faulty injector can cause possible damage. A locked open injector can hydro lock your engine. I've had an injector leak through the body, fuel pouring out of the plastic connector.

I wouldn't put ANY used injector in my car with out at least getting it tested. I have a local place that will test them for $5 each. Cheap insurance.

use them and be done with it.
Worst advice ever.

But the consensus is to just clean up the 305s, and not buy the 1.8 injectors?

Probably at cleaninjectors.com. They seem to be fairly cheap at $50 for 4.

If you send them out to places like witchhunter, to get them cleaned, flowed with new orings and pintle caps, screens, all that crap is like $60. The larger injectors will be nice for low duty cycles I guess. I just like the idea of larger injectors then the bare minimum of what you need.
Get them cleaned and pray you don't have one that leaks.

Edit: I had mine done at cleaninjectors.com, they did a good job from what i can tell thus far. The turn around was about 6.5 days total. Think i'll go witchhunter next time though just for the heck of it.

Cleaned 1.8s for 40 bucks is a great deal, and you can get your 180 hp..

Ben, I'd go with the 265s for your goals.

Right now I'm running my original 205s @ 7-8 psi and I'm still rich 10:7-11.0:1 over 6k rpm. (I haven't worked on tweaking the fuel curve at all)

Get that set from Noah (UofA). They're my old injectors that I had cleaned and used for a couple of thousand miles).

Yeah, for future reference, the 1.8's are fine for 170-180 on an AFPR. You might have some idling issues with the 305s.

I know I know. It's been discussed before but my car won't idle on 305s without help from the EMB.

Mine idles 305's just fine at like 13.5-14 afr. Maybe my OBDII ecu is just smarter, or maybe yours is too old and got alzheimer's. :gay:
