Default Newb needs help on turbo ID

I have a factory rebuilt turbo that I bought a little while back. I was told it was a factory mazda turbo. I'm trying to figure out what it is before I decide to use it or sell it.
"airresearch" cast in small clear block letters on compressor housing
"e24" cast on compressor snail
"409115 54" Stamped on compressor snail.

Rebuild tag has the following...

Code "RS"
Model "780357" Or "7B0357"
Garrett p/n "466954.2
S/N "98060907B"

"DH2/4 Garrett M4" Cast on exhaust side cover

Thanks for any help, kind of like to know what its worth (i have a feeling I overpaid)

If you think you overpaid...tell us...what did you pay for this? Without searchin, I'm GUESSING this is about a .49/ .48 unit. If my numbers hold true, (which they most likely don't), the turbo should be very fast spooling, but not high RPM power maker. My second turbo was a T25 flanged .49/ .48 and it spooled way fast, but anything over 10 psi after 5500RPM's was a joke.

Okay, seems i'm a bigger bonehead than i thought. I bought this turbo and another one at the same time from the same guy for $300. He did tell me one was for a saab, guess i mixed them up. I'll have to post some specs from the other one i have sitting here, it should be the mazda turbo i guess.

So would it run 6500 rpm at 8 psi you think?? Kind of all I had in mind for my first attempt

Yes it will hold 8 psi @ 6,500 , My old Saab .48 / .49 would hold 10psi to Red line (anything beyond that the air charge was real hot ) But it still made 218whp. ( mine was a Garrett TB2531)

Okay, So maybe that one is a good possibility. Here are some pics of the other one, is it from a Mazda?? And how do the two compare performance wise?

They are both t3s. They just have difference compressor housings and wastegates.

The first more than likely has a 45 trim compressor wheel, the second more than likely has a 50 trim or 60 trim. Both look to have a .48 A/R turbine housing. You'll need to pull off hte compressor housings and measure the wheels for us. Remove the tape on the turbine inlet to see what size the housing is.

With that said I'd use the 2nd turbo with the 1st turbo's wastegate outlet.

EDIT: 18psi's post suggests the first IS a 50 trim. Good turbo for 270BHP (250rwhp) max. I'd still wanna measure the 2nd, it's possibly a 60 trim or super 60.

Okay, On the second turbo, the largest diameter of the compressor wheel at the base is about 60-62mm, the Air inlet is about 44-45mm, the air outlet is about 34mm.

Are these sounding right?
