oil lines for sr20 turbo.
Really can't find much information for what I need to hook up oil lines to my turbo. I have a 1.6 motor and was planning on using the high-pressure feed on the side of the block. Now what I don't know is whether or not I should use a -3an or a -4an from the block. Do I need a restrictor if I run either of those or just a banjo bolt? Also having a hard time finding the actual stainless lines for my feed.

The info is out there, maybe buried. Anyway, you could use either size line but if you choose -3an you probably wont need to use a restrictor. I'd recommend going that route. If you just use a fitting into the turbo (7/16-24 to -3an is the correct size for the sr20 garret turbo) then an adapter from the block (not sure on size) to -3an then all you need is the correct size -3an line to go from the block to the turbo. Whatever you do don't order ebay garbage aluminum fittings or ebay lines. Get real stuff a reputable vendor. This is not a connection you want to cheap out on.

Edit! Start you a proper build thread, post up some pics of the car and let’s see what you’re working with and your plans for the car. This place has all of the technical info you could ever imagine and will help those wanting to learn. Get ready for several flames for boosting a 1.6.

Plate = small metal build plate with model # etc.
To check if it's a ball or journal bearing you can just look down inside the oil ports.
Thin middle section = Journal
Thick bit = Ball bearing
This is a journal bearing turbo, see the brass bits at the ends of each shaft? those are the bearings.
On a ball bearing unit it's usually one big long bit across the whole shaft.
(note the turbo there isn't a garrett, it's some random diesel one, so it's oil ports are in diff spots, pic is more to show bearings)
The other, far less reliable check, is to give the turbine a spin.
a good BB one will freewheel for a while.
A journal bearing wont.
of course, a fucked BB one wont freewheel either, or one with leftover bits of gummy oil, etc, etc.
