Default Reaching the EGR tube for a blockoff plate

So I got my blockoff plate and nut to remove EGR. I went out to install it today and promptly gave up do to not being able to reach it. How do I reach the part where the tube enters the intake manifold from the exhaust manifold? Do I have to remove the IM or the support brace or something?

EDIT: Also, stupid question, but I have to remove the EGR valve aswell? Or can I just half-*** remove it's vaccum source (If it has one) or something similar?

On my '99 it's pretty easy to reach the two M6 bolts that hold the tube to the back of the IM.

Same for me on my 99 I just dropped the tube and left the EGR and blocked it.

I just reached around on my '99 as well and removed the two bolts. It might actually be a stud and a bolt. I can't remember.

Forgot about the one that supports the middle of the tube on the back of the heater outlet under the coil packs. Another reason to go COP.
