Default Schwitzer S200 Opinions?

Okay.... make a long story short....have a good friend that works for BW Schwitzer. I ended up with a S200 that he gave me....New never used. They build test turbos then throw them away once tested (prototypes). Anyway.. this turbo is T3 flanged single entry .64, turbine=47/63.......comp=45/64 has a dual 7 blade wheel.... I have no trim numbers for the comp housing..... Since it is a one off turbo (not knowing whether it is going to be good for low pressure midrange or high), I know its kinda vague, but going off of said crap above..... should I try it/sell it/and or find another turbo?

If you have to ask; you're probably not able to build a one off setup.

If it is this turbo - Borg Warner S200 320 to 580 HP Turbo - AGP Turbochargers, Inc. Store

It's way too big.

Try to avoid "text....speak". People will take questions posed more seriously.

Its not that turbo by any means. Fact of the matter is, its not a turbo your going to find..... Wasnt asking if it would work.... I know the engine will spool it... how it will behave and perform on the other hand since I am map-less with this turbo and, as stated above.... I have the only one. I am new to the BP Turbo world and to this forum.. Not turbo engines completely. It was opinions wether should I, or should I not try it... Not to insult my Intellegence..

That sounds like a weird turbo to me. The compressor seems really small for the size of the turbine wheel. Did your buddy give you any info with the turbo since I mean, they did already test it. I wouldnt try to sell it, your friend could possible get in trouble for letting that turbo get out into the wild when I'm sure it was supposed to be sent to the metal recycler. If you can weld, what do you have to loose besides like a weekend of your life and a couple hundred dollars in materials building a manifold and downpipe for a turbo that may or maynot be any good. I'm sure it will be fine, at worst you can put the Brainy special ebay t3 on that manifold and just adjust the downpipe to fix it.

*Note: this differs from my normal advice because this turbo could be cool maybe.

Well... I did a few things.... I took the turbo back apart again and did some measuring just double check. And this is what I came up with :
Turbo : S200
(divide comp ind by exd = 73 trim)
Compressor specs : 46mm ind / 63 exd
Turbine specs : 46mm ind / 57mm exd
Looks to be a .064 turbine housing....has a Renualt badge on the comp housing.
Its kinda wierd actually because the compressor is a dual 7 blade type which usually means it was intended for higher pressures, but the trim of the compressor is high which would indicate Higher Flow... So where ever this turbos sweet spot in its efficiency range is debatable. Ill step out on a limb and guess full boost from 3k to 4k and an efficiency anywhere from 12-18 psi with maybe 300hp. But yeah, really dont have anything to loose but time so I might as well try it.

As long as it's T3 I'd give it a shot. At worst you'd have to redo your downpipe if it sucks and you want a different turbo.

Since I'm building your old truck, I have some Supertechs and rods that I won't be using for a bit if you want to buy them off me.

At the very very worst it sucks alot and you just buy a smaller off the shelf s200 that drops right in. I think the smallest s200 they make would be pretty decent in a miata.

Or i can send both you fruitcakes each others' phone numbers, since apparently you've both lost them.

But yeah, i'd give this turbo a shot. **** it, who cares? If it's too laggy for a BP, give it to me for cheap and i'll see what it does on an F2T or something.

Yeah I plan on trying it just to see.....Yeah I think we both know what would happen with it on a F2.

Maybe. Its kind of a weird turbo, big turbine wheel in a housing thats a bit small for it, combined with a small comp wheel.

So here are some pics... Going to modify this manifold to take an external wastegate and add allot of support. Got this for cheap on ebay... Didnt want to spend allot if this falls through and turns out to be ***.

It will fall through and turn out to be ***. You have a one of a kind turbo and you go and buy a manifold that WILL FAIL, it is such stupidity. You can build one that will last for cheaper, here is a thread about it.

Well I used this exact manifold on the FE3 Stroker I built for my B2200. Which TheNuge now has minus the engine. I supported it allot and it turned out fine... Now concealor404 HAS told be that FE3"s "dont shake like Micheal J Fox as BP does". So you are right... It could turn out to be *** and the manifold could and or will crack and break..... Or the turbo could turn out to be ***. If the turbo turns out great or just okay.... im going to build another manifold from scheduled 40 weld bend pipe. This is by no means perminant. It is the cheapest alternative to find out what how rhis turbo is going to behave.

Go for it. Support it well, see how it goes. You will also need to support the down pipe off the trans then a flex piece. Less is more. What's the compressor housing lying on the floor in the one pic?
