Default should i turbo: NA or NB

Which should i turbo? I can get either car

Does one have more aftermarket support than the other?
Is one more "compatable" with turbos than the other?
Which would be cheaper to turbo?
How sexy am i?

If you can get it as a second car, i would vote for an early NA for just a few reasons. First, they are cheap. Second, its more simple and OBD1. Third, its got Pop up Headlights ftw.

'94 model i think is a pretty good way to go. Someone once told me it was the easiest/ideal car to use. Still OBD-I unless I'm mistaken and has the 1.8 motor. Can't go wrong with that combination.

I love my NB though and would do it this way again if I had the choice.

94-95 with torsen, ya thats probably the best year but can be hard to find. 95 does not have the real oil pressure gauge though FTMFL

I just modded my '99 OPG and am using the 0-100 VDO sending unit. Works awesome. $30 later and about an hour of work including assembly and disassembly.

Ya I have a feeling that theres quite a few miata owners out there (on miata.net mainly) who believe they have a torsen but really do not. When i was first into miatas and browsing there i was led to believe that nearly every 2nd gen NA had it .. wrong.

I'd be inclined to agree w/ magna...but then you have to worry about the damn rear end and stuff...I'd get a 94-95. more money to spend on turbo stuff than a NB

I love the looks and weight and tough engine of NA, but lately I've been having some NB envy in the chassis/suspension department.

The 94-95.5 also have a slightly lowe compression ratio..(8.8) as from 95.5-97 they have (9.0), 99-00 (9.4), 01-05 (10:1) mazdaspeed not included

94 models came oem with a torsen (in us, not in europe)
Youll need the bigger 1.8 rear diff when going turbo...
The 1.8 came with oem braces (behind the seats and @ the diff)

94's UNITE!

Edit: Above me poster is wrong. All 94's came with torsens EXCEPT the base model. Which I own, screw powersteering and all the extras.
