Currently running a m45. Planning on going turbo once I have everything running right with diypnp.
I don't know too much about ar and all that stuff on turbos so hopefully you guys can help me out. My friend's MR2 is putting out 370hp, so something about there or more would be great. I was planning on getting the FM manifold so I don't have to worry too much reliability. Then going with a godspeed chinacharger. What size turbo would you recommend for best balance of power with least amount of lag?
My m45 is connected to an intercooler similar to the trackdog intercooler where the pipes goes over the radiator. Would it be extremely difficult to get this to work with a turbo? I'm hoping to reuse everything and just get a turbo, manifold, downpipe, piping to connect turbo to intercooler, and maybe bigger injectors.

I see absolutely no reason why that IC setup won't work with a turbo. 370whp? Seriously? 370whp is a turbo Miata is serious...
Did you ever dyno with the M45?

I'm thinking if are trying to hit 370whp, that the whole "maybe bigger injectors" needs to become "getting massive injectors." You'll also need to build that motor of yours, 3" exhaust, and lots of other supporting stuff. You are probably going to need a larger intercooler and intercooler piping to support that kind of goal.

Maybe I should set my goals a little lower. Would like to beat my friend's MR2 though.
If I can beat him I think he will go into depression.
A the same time, I was hoping to make this car reliable enough to be my daily driver so I can have fun driving to work. SUV's not very fun.
The M45 only tweaked out 140hp. That's with a misfire and I think the guy didn't know how to tune. Maybe the M45 needs a rebuild, I dunno. Car doesn't idle right when cold and he can't figure it out. The misfire I'm hoping to get rid of with ls2 truck coils.
Currently have 8.6:1 84mm supertech pistons and m-tech rods.
99 head that's been ported. Stock crank I think would be the weak point.
Anything else I need to build up on the motor?
Friend has a magnaflow turbo exhaust sitting around for years. Might have to confiscate that from him.
What other supporting stuff will I need? I know I might need to get a wastegate but I have a blowoff valve already (not installed, just have one laying around).

That is a lot of power. Are you willing and ready to address the issues and parts needed to safely and reliably make that power?
You'll need to get something gigantic like 18psi's old 3076 and run it at insane boost levels to make 370whp. There are not a lot of great china turbos that come in T2 footprints.
Trust me. I went from a M45 to a turbo setup. I pretty much threw everything away and wasted a few days trying to "undo" the supercharger setup.
Injectors are a must. 1000's would be good.
You think wrong. The stock B6/BP crank is forged. It won't break.
Bottom end is all you need for those HP goals.
"Turbo exhaust" makes me laugh. If it's not for a miata and at least 3", then I'd pass.

I can get an upgraded ct26 for free. It's been bored out by Garrett and the internals been upgraged as well. It was making 300hp on a MR2 at 14psi.
Would this be a good turbo to start off with? Can anyone confirm it's got a t2 flange and the flange to the downpipe is the common one used on most turbo? Planning on starting off with this one but would like to be able to easily upgrade turbo in the future.

If it's a single entry CT26, give it to me, i could use it. If it's a twin entry, DO NOT WANT.
You would need to get a speedo sensor or entire gauge cluster from a miata with the correct 6speed ratios i.e. 4.30; 3.9; 3.636

I hear mustangs are nice.
It's been a long time since I've spent any time on supramania or stupidforums but I know you can buy weld on flanges for the CT series of Toyota turbos. They are not very effecient however. At 14 psi the temps are pretty high.

That's what I've read about the toyota chargers too.
But he said his is bored out and he changed the internals.
I figured since its free, I'll give it a shot. If its a pain, then I'm leaning towards a gt2860.
Probably gonna stick w the 5 speed fir a while too. I'll get a 6 speed after the one on my car and the 2 in my garage blows. I have a thing for accurate speedo readings.
