The old BEGI intercooler kit I got a while back has a TIAL VTA BOV installed on the passenger side pipe right after it comes off the intercooler ahead of the wheel well. Sorry, I forgot to snap a pic last night. This area is not covered by the undertray and will be exposed to road conditions. I am concerned about getting dirt on the valve and ruining the BOV. Understanding that the valve should only be open to release pressure so dirt shouldn't be sucked in, but if you coat that exposed portion of the piston with dirt I am sure something will begin to wear.
I did a good bit of searching but surprisingly found nothing on this issue. I only have divertervalve experience form my VW 1.8T and dirt is not a concern with recirculated valves.
I have seen pictures of these valves installed in similar locations so there should be some operating experience out there.

I finally got a chance to snap a picture. Here is the cold side intercooler pipe and BOV mocked up.
How do you not suck in dirt if you have a leak at idle?
I might at least make a proper under tray that covers the area in front of the wheels as well instead of just under the radiator and engine.
