find where you knock...retard a couple degrees, enjoy max powah.

Knock threshold isn't always where you make the most power.

If you're going through the trouble to tune each specific spark cell, why not turn for where you make the most power safely within the threshold, enstead of finding where it knocks then turn it back 1/4 degree?

Wasn't there going to be a race? I'd rather see direct results between your car and a few MS greddy cars at the drag strip on the same day. But I know that's not going to happen. It's way easier to print dyno sheets.

We both decided to not run, since the MS car was still running the base map, and I hadn't turned the boost back down.

I already mentioned doing a dyno day here if people were interested. I know there are several people with MS in the DFW area, and you can't dispute same day, same dyno results.

Right now I am more concerned with getting the car running over 10psi. So Walbro 255HP and new wastegate actuator are on the list, probably done tonight or tomorrow. Then we play with the boost and see what we get at 12, 15, and 18psi. Might have to dial it back, since I don't want over 280whp. Then the car is going to a local driver's event at MSR on Sunday. Should be fun!

If I was in DFW I'd definately show up for a dyno day.

I'd love to see direct comparisons on the same day and same dyno, but really, the maps should be similar, to really make any clear claims that the AEM is better.

Why not just tune it the same way we did....log 6 street pulls. From there we made 1 change on the dyno for the WG tune. We made 3 or 4 changes on the 10psi tune. So far we have about 30-40min of tuning time invested, and alot of that was finding out that the WG won't hold 10psi, and that the fuel pump was maxed out. So maybe 30min of USEFUL tuning time.

Because then, you're comparing who is/has a better tuner, not a better EMS.

Ease of tuning is also part of having a better EMS. So shouldn't you be able to come up with similar numbers doing the same tuning technique?

Does MS even have a Boost Comp map? That is where most of our tuning is. We tuned at 0 boost/0 vaccuum and then boost comp'd the rest.

Megasquirt is about as dead easy to tune as I've seen.

But I'm biased, hardware wise the AEM is amazing, but I've had personal experience where there was issues the factory master tuners couldn't solve.

I think the AEM is a great EMS but where are all the guys making more power than me, earlier than me with my lowly MS on a gt2560r on a stock 99 motor?

I'm self taught on the MS and it's the first EMS I've ever tuned. Both times I've dyno'd the car the only time tuning was the drive there. The setups were just finished the night before.

explain to me why fuel and spark timing is different on one tuning platform than another. i have a much easier time accepting that some dynos read higher than others
