You will be way faster than 13 seconds unless you spin the tires the whole time. I would offer my jacket but I think we would both be in the gear jammers class so we both need one.
The RaceLogic TC system ensures it doesn't do much spinning of the tires. I haven't played with the launch control on it yet, although Savington says it works really well on his.

Cool, so I will see you Wednesday then. They let me go the first time with no fire jacket but said don't come next week without one.
The grouchy tranny failure sounds pretty benign, compared to shrapnel through the floor.
I think I will do a video of how loud my MK Turbo is in neutral with the clutch out compared to with the clutch in after the tranny stops spinning. My tranny is the noisiest part of my car, I swear.

I probably can't do wednesday next week, but just in case -- what time do you need to get there? How does it work?

FWIW, my 5-speed started whining while cruising around in 3rd gear about a year before it let go. It did do 50K miles at 12-15 psi, though.

It starts at 3:30 but I usually don't make it til 4. The sooner the better because you get to run every 15 minutes or so until more people start to show up. Elimination doesn't start until after 6 and if you show up late they will give you priority over people who have done a few runs already.
If you are coming from 101 go before 3 or it will take 1/2 hour to go the last 2 miles on the 37, no other way to escape it. I always just play some good music and sit in traffic, it's worth it, no traffic in front of me on the 1/4 mile.

OK, so that means leaving work at 1:30 -- definitely not happening next week. I'd be coming up from Santa Clara, could in theory come up 680 and go the other way on 37, but I'm pretty sure the Sunol grade is going to make that a bad tradeoff.

Yeah, I can usually be done by 3:15 or so Wednesday and drive my Mazda because it's a light day for me. I work about 10 or 15 minutes south of the 37 and my wife lets me come home late on Wednesday if the drag race is going on.
I think there is a private event the following week, but it is pretty regular, usually 3 weeks a month or so. I would say it's best to go when you can get there early.
Let me know if and when you might go.

New best, not bad for a heavy piggie.
13.12 @ 106.23 mph.
There was a strong headwind today, I raced all mustangs, a supercharged 89, a 2013 gt, and a couple of the 4.6l ones too. Beat every one, took a few videos, if I can figure out how to edit them I might post one.

Don't worry Lars, there is definitely room for improvement. I would also like to point out that Greg was running e85 and there is none near me. I run crap 91, there is 93 and 100 I think at the track, but it is pricier than the unicorn semen that was used on my motor.
Next week is off but the following week I will try again. I like to increase in small steps and analyze my logs each run. Can't get that kind of data anywhere else.

Sorry for the delayed response I was outside welding my wastegate closed.

Seriously though solid numbers, you're trapping the same 1/8 as me when I was on 91 octane. I better hurry up and get my new bits on the dyno so I can go out and run again, now that I have this jacket and all.

Just went to the drags tonight. Seriously impressed with you and your car, because I have a lot more power and didn't even come close to your ET.

Once again, nice work.

Sometimes I think you just like getting flamed

Thanks for the kind words

I think a major part of it is just being comfortable at the track and relaxed driving down the 1/4 mile. Also finding the right time to shift, I look at my logs and compare shift points for different pulls.
At this point I know many of the regular racers and it is kind of a social event too.
We all look forward to Wednesday night and have a great time.
There are always new people too, ready to get smoked by my crazy sleeper.

I will also mention that I have a specific drag tune that I work with at the drag strip. My closed loop boost control settings are slightly different compared to my dyno/daily tune. I gradually increase the boost targets 1 or 2 kpa at a time and examine the logs and scrutinize the knock sensor input.
In other words I am not driving a low 13 second miata, more like mid 13 second one. Except at the drag strip, which is a very different game from track or autox racing.

All the credit really goes to this community. Especially folks like shuiend, who made my kit.

Thanks again!

Today was the perfect example of what I was talking about. I didn't plan to race this weekend but was checking to be sure there was no races Wednesday and there was a drag race yesterday and today.
I had to get there early and it shows on my first time slip. I was still half asleep, literally and my reaction time was over a second.
The track was also different with trailers everywhere, took me a couple runs to get comfortable.
I will try again in a week and a half.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I hate test and tune days here. It used to be that you'd get a ton of runs in, but last time we went with all the pro dragsters doing testing it was like 2 hours between runs. Waste of time and money.

Sounds like that's what you had today, test-n-tune day.

Ok guyth, I'ma gonna tryan break my **** tomorrow at Thonoma Ratheway
Well, we will see if I can run 12's, supposed to be cool tomorrow.
I usually try to get there by 3:30 to get teched, should be there until 7 at least. It sure would be nice to see another miata that is faster than 15 seconds if anyone wants to meet me there. Best $25 I ever spent ripping down the track at 100 mph.

A bit better trap speed but my new launch technique doesn't work as well as my old one.
Next week.
