Made it to Sacramento in the 98° heat, didn't think it was the best time to go, but...
I literally got to make as many practice passes as I wanted, didn't even shut the car down. Other cars were overheating and cooling down, thanks to some of the knowledge here, my car can do back to back passes all day long. I didn't stop until my hand started slipping off the shifter because I was overheated I won but there were only 4 cars in my lane, nice .001 light on the first pass. Looks like hot days are the best time to go there.

Finally went a few rounds against the automatics. The second elimination round was a Tesla that cut an .006 light on me, I had an .011 and crossed the finish line hard on the brakes for an .032 package. Then I missed second on a decent light in the quarter finals. I was 1 round away from the money.
Also got this sticker for participating in the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Another fun night, until I slipped my clutch a bit too much. Starting slipping good so I had to let off. I think I hesitate sometimes when it feels like I might have gone red, as if I could keep from going red at that point. It seems to be holding full power in 5th again, so maybe it was just glazed. I ordered a new disc from SM anyway, just in case it's worn. I have been abusively launching for over 2 years on this one, so it might be time.

Well I put a 6758 and a kraken top mount on, and then sliiiiip. So yeah, I had to put the new super miata organic(my car only eats organic clutches) friction disc in, new one is 8+mm thick, worn one was 7-mm. Don't get me wrong, it was still holding at 13efr psi, but not with the solenoid on, no way.
Anyway, almost went too fast. Got to race Tony, who I made my 11.48 against, in every practice round. Beat him 2 out of 3 to the finish line, although I had to go red to beat him once. It was fun! Then I saw my red light in elimination and thought, eff it, I'm runnin' this b!+ch out! Don't ask me how the hell I pulled a 1.7 60' on these crappy contact sport tires, no freakin' idea. Need to work on my tune a little bit for next time.
1st pass was scared about exploding, 2nd pass was shifting to 6th.

Something you may want to investigate is using a kl v6 clutch disc. I'm pretty sure thats the one I ran back when I was manual tranny. I used an act extreme pressure plate with a stock flywheel and a kl v6 ebay pucked clutch disc (pretty sure it was for a kl v6 anyways). It was a little larger than the stock size 1.8 disc for more surface area, but would still fit within the 1.8 flywheel and p/p. If I remember right just barely so, but it did fit and work well.

Maybe next week if it stays dry, I usually have to see how work goes and decide if I can leave by 1PM. I will text you by 1 on Wednesday if I am going, not when I am there like last time.
Newaza, thanks! The car feels good. I'm pretty happy with the SM disc, which is also slightly larger than OEM.
OEM over SM disc
SM disc
OEM worn area
OEM disc
I use the FM level 2 pressure plate with this disc and I think it is pretty similar to what you are describing. I also run a stock flywheel, not the one in the pictures.

I had also installed a new pilot bearing recently. It seemed excessively packed with grease and some had spun out, possibly contributing to the slippage. Hopefully most of the excess grease is gone now, lol...

So yeah, we had a party at Sacramento raceway yesterday. It was fun! I made it to the semi final round where I spun a little bit and couldn't run my number. Trapped faster than ever before but still kept it over 11.50.

Another fun night. I took way too much stripe on the first elimination round and broke out good. I should have watched my opponent more carefully at the top end. Oh well, might have to go to Sacramento next week if I can time work right.
Saw this cute little thing at cars and coffee.
Gave my friend a ride in the car and she posted it for a bunch of our friends to see. They all said it sounded like I reached over and started tickling her. I swear I didn't touch her, we're both married

Yes, in general it is better at Sonoma, especially for our cars. Not certain about Alex's car, as an 8 second fox body hit the wall last week. I wasn't there but it was recorded and you young guys are way more savvy with the interwebs than me.
As David Rudd and Andrew Olson (top racers from Sacramento) told me, the prep is pretty good at Sacramento after a big money weekend event, but terrible otherwise.
Come on out, you can stay in the guest room if you want. I challenged/invited Greg Peters to stay/get whooped by my car around the reunion. Can't remember if we have the Wednesday before or after. Anyway, no drags at Sonoma until next week.

Another fun night, it was the Halloween Bash this time with a fun car show and lots of different food vendors. Made it to the final round, won the semi-final on a coin toss for the bye, only to end up flirting with Roxanne again. My wife says to stay away from her next time. 1st run was a 2013 GT500 with an aftermarket blower and a tune, said he missed 3rd. Ran one round at low boost just for some potential dial in information, maybe 12.55 on low boost. The other 12, fendering my opponent after I had passed him, wasn't going to break out so bad this time.

Lol thanks man! Was hoping to visit you guys this weekend but my work truck failed and I had to waste my weekend on that POS. So now I'm like one of these kids daily driving my boosted Miata around.
