I said I'd post it up and there it is. What are you opinions of that spark table? I've been running it on my '99 with my SR20 turbo ever since I had MS2. That's the spark table I used when I dyno'd at 225whp.

Braineack 07-20-2012 10:49 AM

could use a lot more in low boost and a little more in higher levels. unless it blows up.

ARTech 07-20-2012 10:54 AM

Hopefully the word "turbo" wasn't in the description of the muffler. As strange as it sounds, "turbo" mufflers from the big three (Magnaflow/dynomax/flowmaster) are all chambered.

I haven't run my 163,000 mile oil burning engine at over 7psi in the past year and a half, cause I need it to stay running for a couple weeks yet. I am, however, currently working on my spare motor to be swapped in. Let's say I didn't burn oil, because my engine is all brand new...and I could boost 14-15psi without any issues, and I tuned my spark table better...think 250whp could be achieved on that turbo with my catless current 2 1/2" exhaust? I'm only 25whp away, and that was with crappy valve seals/ crappy compression numbers/ 12psi/ etc.

18psi 07-20-2012 11:34 AM

on the fresh motor you could definitely run more spark than you do now. and more boost. and probably hit 250. go 3" and make 250 with even less pressure and heat. win win

Braineack 07-20-2012 11:40 AM

you're retarding ~2° per boost at 8psi. I think that's a bit much is all.

I am shocked by that delta. Was the 2.25" exhaust stock? I have to believe most of that gain came from loosing a chambered muffler and not the diameter of the system. I would love to hear more details of the before and after exhaust systems.

thirdgen 07-20-2012 08:18 PM

I'd like to hear more also...I believe in eliminating a restriction such as a chambered muffler or a cat...but going from 2.5" to 3" exhaust diameter on a turbo as small as this doesn't seem like it would make a significant difference in freeing up lost power.
Or is this another "thirdgen makes no sense" reply.

curly 07-20-2012 08:36 PM

Somebody tell Abe to reply to my PM. I has monies for him.

hornetball 07-20-2012 08:51 PM

I did about the same on a Mustang. 2.5" exhaust -- pretty quiet. No IC on mine though.

Curious, is your MAT readout °F or °C (I'm guessing latter)? Was there a fan blowing on your IC? Looks like your IC is heatsoaking quite a bit from the MAT curve.

hornetball 07-20-2012 09:10 PM

Also, can you post your log and I'll see if I can get a VD graph out of it? 4th gear pull?

Dynorun is my 153hp/138ftlb run at 9psi, dynorun2 is my 155hp/148ftlb run at 10psi.

max-5 high flow cat 2.25"
chambered borla dual exhaust. 2.25" inlet; dual 2" outlets.
that exhaust on samnavy's t25 setup also produced lack luster results.

Sorry Curly. I'm a 'tard :loser:. VD graphs have to come from street pulls. The calculation takes into account rolling resistance and wind resistance. A VD graph of a dyno pull would not be meaningfull as the only loading comes from the rollers.

Now, if you'd like to do a quick street pull or two, we can see if they agree.

None of that sounds all that bad. What do you think the bottle neck was?

I have a short 2.5" system on mine. 232whp at 9psi rotrex. Your dyno has me wondering if I have a good chunk of HP being corked up.

nitrodann 07-21-2012 01:14 AM

2.5 flows 25% more that 2.25

That's 110mph, so no. I'll do a 3rd gear pull.

I would expect that a rotrex would not be limited as much by an exhaust restriction; since it is not relying on the exhaust gases to spin up the turbo.

that muffler sucked. It's a camaro style muffler if you know how those flow...

thirdgen 07-21-2012 04:19 PM

Camaro...like cross flow style???
