I wish we could. I go to CT alot, so if I was in the area it would be no problem. But I have a gymnastics meet next weekend.

The dyno is at 700 ft elevation. The office is at 1400 ft.

For them to be that close, I'd take paul's - I love having a lot of power down low - it doesn't really make it much faster, but it's a lot nicer to drive around town like you have a V-8, cruising 3 gears higher than you should be...

It's a lot nicer for tight autocross courses as well. I think this thread helped me make up my mind to get the 2560r over the 2860rs.

the compressor wheels are the same, so you should expect similar power. I bet if it were the same motor and spark map, the 2860 would simply make more power up top, but you'd see that sacrifice of low-end, which isn't a big deal. Like seen on Jeremy's car: http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/dyno_...emy_potato.pdf

That's what gets me - something with that much of a turn off on the top end should have a lot of bottom. I wonder what boost as a function of RPM was... Maybe they were in a really low gear on the pull compared to paul.

To me it seems like they should have top-end, but then again, the engine management isn't ideal, is it? Restrictive intake?

Got me. I just need to tune my car. Sometimes it runs well. :-P

Doesn't Paul have his super-pimp custom made manifold? I'd like to see him toss a Potato on that car and see what it does compared to the 2560.

no, that's a pretty typical comparison. both will make similar power, the 2860 will spool slower but make more power per psi.

the turbine is .8mm larger and a 76 trim vs. a 62 trim

That BEGI dyno was at 13psi, how much was Paul running?

Yeah, 1psi difference. Does the gt2860rs suck that much? You really think that putting a 2560 on the Begi car will result in the same curve Paul has, or visa-versa?

it's just a turbo for a different job.

Again look at this comparo. this was the same car and same boost: http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/dyno_...emy_potato.pdf

while it lost 500rpm of spool, it gained 10hp/10tq. probably runs a little cooler as well, so better for track days where you dont need that extra low-end and can use all teh heat management you can get.
