headed to the strip tonight
I'm finally going to run this thing tonight. Looks to be a nice cool one, with temps in the low 60's. I've been having some clutch issues at 15psi lately, so I may have to turn it down a bit but we'll see? Will post slips later tonight probably after 10pm.
Wish me luck...

Excuses.
First time at the strip in years and first with the mazda. I also, as anticipated, had clutch slippage problems.
The 14.05@95 was the first run. This run showed 14psi on my log and had slippage midway though fourth gear so I had to feather it across the line.
The next run (not shown) the clutch let go getting into boost in second gear and I basically just limped it across the line.
Third run of 14.35@100 was after turning the boost down to 9-10psi and the clutch held pretty decent the entire run. It felt like my best at the time.
I'm pretty disappointed with not breaking 13's even at 10lbs.
Edit-mod list
99, Cat rods, begi log, 2854, custom dp, 3",425cc, fmic, walbro190hp, emb, alum rad, mbc...uh, I think that's it?

this is why I tell people not to expect great things when going unless they really really know what they're doing and their car is tip top.
but still, that's almost 15mph over stock, so not bad man

Sorry to hear that you had issues. Weak clutches or other bugs have a way of showing up at the drag strip. The VHT they apply to the track surface can be brutal on components compared to the street.
You should see a considerable improvement once you work out your clutch issues. It is like a waste of time to make many passes when the clutch is weak.
Keep us posted on any improvements you make, and when you hit the track again.

I figure if I can get my 60's down to a respectable level and junk this shitty f1 stage 2 clutch, I think I can see another 5-8mph. Maybe a 13.5@105 wouldn't be out of the question.

Yeah, these two runs were with admittedly shitty launches and standard shifting methods. I think I'm gonna drop some coin on the FM stage 2 today. Going to the dragstrip always makes me want to breakout the checkbook.
I feel like i need to take my car to the strip before i make comments.
I know my DD will trap in the deep teens/low 120s with a 2.4 60', and the MSM doesn't feel like it'll do that, but it doesn't FEEL far off. (I know it won't do it, though)
However, the butt dyno is pretty inaccurate when you have to shift every half second and there's ALL THE NOISES going on.

That's the problem with these cars, I think they feel faster than they really are due to their size and ride height. I think the turbo miata's strong suit, besides road racing, is from a roll.
