pdexta's vd log
Every time I start to keep a build thread I seem to break stuff constantly and I feel like I'm just documenting my own stupidity. However, I use virtual dyno religiously and I thought it'd be nice to have a place to look back on what I've done and where I'm headed. I'll try to post here when I make pulls and run them through virtual dyno.
I'll kick it off with a couple old pulls that I thought were interesting and worth sharing.
Stock motor NA8: Tuned 93 octane in blue, Basemap (+30% fuel, +5 deg timing) E85 in red. Made a pull driving to the gas station on 93, filled with E85, switched maps, and made a pull driving home.
What happens when you fail to notice a sprinkler has sprayed the road, right where you come into peak tq, and you almost die:

I recently added a 3rd boost setting that has been really nice to have. I use wastegate for twisty roads and autocross, 16psi for everything else, and I'm going to gradually increase the 3rd setting. I'd like to actually dyno the car this winter on 20psi and get some more official numbers. I'm hoping it'll be +350hp, either that or I'm just going to break something.
From last night - wastegate 10psi, 16psi, 17psi
For my boost switches I pulled out my dash dimmer since I never use it, and put a sanded down foglight/cruise switch in it's place. The left button kills connection to the EBC so it runs wastegate. The right button activates my boost control target 2 map. It's been working great.

That input switch is pretty sweet!
Looks like you're still on tap to make more power by upping the boost since going up 1 psi made quite a bit of difference! The pistons are det limited, not power limited right? So... you should be pretty solid since you're running E85!

I made a couple pulls in the cool weather tonight. Virtual dyno showed some crazy gains vs warm weather.
Some local guys are planning a dyno day at a local spec miata shop next month that I'm planning to do. Hopefully I can back up the vd numbers. I'm planning to turn it up a little more, really hoping to see 350whp.

I don't believe there were any changes to the boost control, just strictly cooler weather. Like 50 vs 80 ambient temps.
Red was 210kpa and blue was 220kpa in the last pull.
I was all ready to dyno the car on Saturday to get some "offical numbers". The car on the dyno before me had dumped exhaust before the axle and they ran the O2 sensor to the exhaust in front of the rear wheels. Mid-run the sensor falls off, goes between the wheel and rollers, and rips the sensor and start/stop controller out of the wall. They tried to piece it back together but couldn't get it working consistently again.
