Yeah, I hear the efr's make the same with half the boost.
Thanks for the advice, maybe I will dial it back a bit. I have a low mileage crank but I need a block. Then I could build a better bottom end.

I'm pretty concerned about my 5 speed too, keeping an eye out for a spare.

I'm really impressed with the setup. Seems like MK Turbo absolutely nailed the combination of power, spool, and budget for a simple stock motor setup. It makes me want to buy a NB to daily drive.

That was my overall goal, I wanted to make a modern day Greddy setup with what I have learned over the past 10 years.

This is why I'm building an engine, even with the limitations of MK Turbo. I'd prefer to have something reliable-ish at 250 HP. Not sure whether I'll get the turbo parts or the engine built first, but I won't be turning up the boost until I get the built engine in there.

So this got me thinking a little bit. I wonder if it is partly due to reduced back pressure in the exhaust (low pressure region behind car sucking out exhaust). Might have lower intake temps too.

low back pressure only improves spool

I am definitely not at the limit of the kit. If I had not been careful with my ebc or failed to set my boost limiter up, I could have easily grenaded my motor.
It seems like load is a major factor in spool, the lack of low pressure in the rear may be a factor too but I don't know. My intake temps were pretty high but I don't usually run 4th all the way to the top either. They had a pretty nice belt driven blower fan though.

Nice day at the drag race in Sonoma. Couldn't get under 14 seconds but I did break into triple digit trap speed, which is what I was after. My tune needs some work after changing my injector dead times, so maybe better next time.

Beat that Z, only ran a 15.2.

I am car 98, left is against a honda civic that was fast as ****. Right is against an new SS Camaro.

Hit the drag with the new lazy snail turbo, it doesn't give anything up to the smaller compressor on the 1/4 mile.

You've got a rather significant improvement in 60's that seems to have helped you sneak into the 13's. Did you change your tires? Launch technique? Or is the lazy spool helping control off the line wheelspin? Well done sir your making progress either way.

It must be the lazy spool, or perhaps I was lining my tires up in the groove better. My best time seemed like my crappiest launch. There were WRX guys who asked the people ahead of me and moved a car so they could video me blast past them. That was my 13.7 second run, I am pretty gentle launching my 5 speed typically. I played with my VE table and closed loop EBC each time, which was really the point of going.
It's pretty well dialed in now and I am ready to do a dyno for Lars.

Thanks guys!

New best time, this is on CA 91 crap gas. This is slightly more boost than I will run on the dyno next Tuesday.
I ran under 13.5 with no roll bar but no one said anything. I had to leave before elimination though so I doubt they would let me run with 13.45 on my window.

Thanks man! Couldn't have done it without reading your threads and at least a dozen other folks threads on here.
The car is very fun, I am a happy camper.

Is this still 15 psi? Man. 13.45 is quick.

Here is the log. I fixed the knock, retarded 1/2 degree in that area and I see the lean spikes just after the lean afr targets so I don't think it's my AE. I just need to tune my 5500 rpm cruise cells IMHO. I have also been fudging with the boost targets at the drag because I have my EBC set to mimic my last dyno for next week.

Tapers up to 15.75 or so.

You guys aren't going to like this. The dyno folks swore that with the new software they can only plot rpm with the AFR.
I will play with the images after work and try to extrapolate an RPM axis on top.
Left; small turbo blue, big turbo red.
Right; big turbo wastegate red, EBC blue.

Peak EBC torque was at 4300, peak HP at 6200.
