Default Still not running right. Need some help guys.

Im having problems with my car running with the greddy EMU, and im trying to figure out what is going on.

I sent in my emanage to be checked up by greddy, because i could have gotten a faulty unit, but the unit checks out great. no problems...

So anyway my car does not run good at all. I have changed my injectors from 550cc to 440cc to hopefully cure the problem with fueling, but the car STILL runs like it did before the change in injectors. It runs pig rich, A/F 10.0 on the AEM UEGO.

I pulled engine codes (of course) and the ones i have been receiving are P0335, P0102, and P0172 ( i think? i.e. system too rich... duh). The P0102 doesnt come back anymore after i changed some settings on the Emanage, but I still have the P0335 (crank position sensor) error code.

Now, i decided it was malfunctioning, so i went ahead and ordered, then changed the CPS to the brand new one. Guess what? still the same code. im seriously getting pissed off with this, could it be that i fried my stock ECU while tinkering with the emanage or wiring, and damaging the stock ECU board itself?

does anyone have a stock NB computer that i could borrow for a few days to test out? i dont know what to do anymore.

i had a problem with the crank sensor my self. the way i got the car to run is to disconnect the wires from the harness and let the EMU run off RPM signal. I got the idea from another member from this forum. Try it maybe you will have some luck. i will check to see if i still have my spare ECU around i will let you borrow it if i can find it. i thought that was the problem too, so i did cut the wires. sthe problem still exists. i really appreciate you helping me out.

Something is wrong at the stock ECU. Or maybe the wiring.

At idle, your log is showing input injector duration at 9.1 - 9.4 ms, and output duration at 4.9 - 5.1 ms. The ratio between those two looks correct, however the absolute duration is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

By way of comparison, my '92, at idle and with a similar injector ratio, runs about 1.0 - 1.1 ms input duration, 0.6 - 0.7 ms output duration. Even taking into account that I am using batch injection (twice as many pulses, half as long) that still only works out to maybe 2.0 - 2.2 ms equivalent input duration.

I cannot say what exactly is causing this- either the ECU is actually outputting those signals, or some fault in the wiring on config causes the EMU to believe that it is.

Inspect the injector wiring carefully. Make sure that all four injector channels are separately wired- no bonding, no cris-crossing. Disconnect the EMU from all of the stock sensors. Pull the CLT and IAT lines, the MAF wire (which you'll need to splice back together to feed the ECU direct), the TPS wire, everything. Get it down to nothing but RPM, IGN, and I/J. Those are the basics that it needs to operate. We need to eliminate the possibility that the EMU is exerting influence upon the ECU by corrupting one or more of its inputs.

joe thanks again for your input. I really appreciate it.

Anyway, i willl try that out. I also plan to pu tthe stock injectors and the stock ECU back to normal to see if the EMU is at fault here.

As from what you said, the injectors are being adjusted correctly, but the injector inputs are completely off. So i supposed the ECU is bad here, which is why i hope someone here has a stock NB computer i could borrow for a few days to test.

Could the P0335 (crank position sensor) be wrong here too? could the ECU been fried at that point causing the injectors to fire erratically?

Well, I don't know for sure that the stock ECU is bad. In fact, I see no reason to believe that it is. It's more likely that either:

1- The EMU (or bad wiring) is causing one or more signals such as MAF, Temp, TPS, etc to be corrupted on their way into the ECU, and this is causing the ECU to attempt to inject extra fuel. Could possible be the O2 sensor as well, though I'm not sure it has that much authority on the fuel tables.

2- The configuration of the EMU (or bad wiring) is causing the EMU is misinterpet the I/J signal(s) being sent to it by the ECU.

I doubt that either the crank sensor or the part of the ECU that reads it has been damaged. If that were the case, it's unlikely that the ignition would be working.

i will recheck the wiring.

I highly doubt it could be the wiring, but i will do it to make sure. I installed the EMU before i installed the turbo and everything and it ran fine, like stock. After i put the injectors on, it never really ran right, then after the turbo went on, it ran really bad.

Obviously I'm grasping in the dark with my guesses here, but based on what you've said we can draw an important inference about the period of time between when you installed the EMU and when you installed the injectors and/or turbo.

Something Changed.

maybe a wire got damaged? ><

not sure but i will recheck the harnesses from the CPS and back, maybe that can enlighten some problems. if need be, i will open up the wiring harness itself to verify if a short did happen, but i doubt this would be the case.

Right now, i am suspecting either the stock ECU, the wiring is being shorted somewhere in the BS extension harness, the injectors (they should be fine though). or the EMU itself.

I have a friend who is going ot let me borrow a stock ECU so i can rule that out as a cause or if that turns out to be the cause, get it replaced. if the injector times are suposed to be around 1.0 like you said, something is definately throwing off the stock ECU with showing a wrong voltage or something. I really hope this turns out to be much more simple than it seems. If after i recheck the wiring, recheck the injector wiring, check the ECU, and i still have a problem, i will most likely take it over to blacktrax over here in milpitas and they possibly they could shine some light on what the hell is going on.

tonight, i will re do the wiring to get the bare minimum down to just teh RPM, I/J, and the IGN outputs (besides the grounding and power what not) and see what happens. ill keep you updated guys.
