He's using the stock sensor from an NB engine. BP-4W is the code for the engine used in the '99-'00 and MSM cars. (Though I believe that the cam sensor itself is the same in all NB engines- just located in a different spot.)

Joe's correct. I mean to say that it works with the stock sensor in the stock location 99/00 and MSM which is in front of the valve cover.
It does complicate the matter that the VVT cars use the same sensor, however it was relocated to the top of the intake cam.
