Throw away the igniter, use the MS1 tacho circuit to drive the tacho in the cluster.

I am doing the same thing. Please Please post details of how you do the: use the MS1 tacho circuit to drive the tacho in the cluster.

Which color wires would be what at the coils?
Where do I pick up the tach wiring for the dash tach to splice it into the megasquirt?

I am doing the same swap and having been searching to figure this out with no luck. Please help

So I run a wire from the yellow/blue and black/white ignitor harness on the 90 miata and I splice them and run them to the tach output on the MS Diypnp.
Then I run the Brown and Yellow to the coil 4&1
and I run brown the 3 & 2
Then reset the dwell for the 04 coils and that should do it?
What is the right dwell for 04 coils?

take the tach wire from the ignitor, solder it to the wire that controls the nearby purge solenoid. wire tacho output to purge solenoid wire on harness

doneeeeee.

I am running wire into the cabin anyway for the VVT controler but that is a good idea. besides I have not idea what the purge solinoid is or what wire on the harness corispondes to it.
But I was hoping to use stock wires to get the coils signal to the 04 coils. I figured that would be easy enough since I am still running waste style coils like factory. So just run:
Then I run the Brown and Yellow to the coil 4&1
and I run brown the 3 & 2
What do you think of that idea absRTP?
I also wanted to thank you for posting this stuff. It really has helped me get my head around whats involved and answered questions I could not figure out. THANKS!

If you are using an aftermarket ECU you can send the tach signal from the ECU via pin 2I (B/W wire) (pin E at the igniter) and you can wire it to pin D at the igniter to send it to the instrument cluster.

So the DIYPNP puts out a tach signal I wire that to the black and white pin 2i at the harnes or I have to run the output on the ecu to pin d on igniter. Which one?

Wire the tach signal from the ECU to pin 2I at the harness and wire the pin E and pin D together at the igniter.

But is it possible to use the vvt coils and keep the 1.6 igniter?
