Default Where is the 01 ECU

So today I started getting my gauges wired up and a few other simple things done in order to be prepared to install megasquirt soon.
As i got under the dash and looked for a hole in the firewall I noticed the ecu down there -

My car is 100% an 01 and everything I've read online says all nb2s have the ecu behind the passenger seat. I'm just wondering - anyone know if this is just an 01 thing or maybe some early models?

pic of vin sticker -

ECU is in the drivers footwell next to the steering column above the clutch pedal, mounted vertically.

90-93 is under the passengers feet.
94-97 is behind the passenger seat.
99+ is under the dash on the drivers side.

The OEM harness (and OEM ECU)can easely be rerouted to behind the glove box. No splicing. Lots of space for ECU and other related stuff like data logger, LC1, boost controller, adapterboard etc.

You were born in the 90s, give it 5- years and you'll understand. One day you're on your back, under the dash of the driver side telling people "its not hard", the next day you're paying someone to run a camera up your *** to see if you're going to make it to 40 without a -----bag on your belt.

No, that is 94-97 location. 99+ is under the dash where you found yours.

Just for general information: The location of the ECU in a EUDM '99 - '00 is also under the passenger's foot rest.
