Speeduino is another option for a standalone ECU as well.
I went with it on my 1.6L to keep costs down.
Missing a lot of features compared to my other car running an MS3X, but it does work and handles a turbocharged setup just fine.
I ended up buying a separate knock monitor later, so that negates the cost savings.
Although the knock monitor is more of a tuning tool, can be used on multiple vehicles as needed.
I like the idea of learning to tune while your car is N/A. That's how I got my feet wet and taught myself how to wire and tune a standalone.
There is a lot more risk tuning a boosted setup!
