Mazdaspeed Comp Eng Mounts -- Initial Impressions
#21
mmr motor mounts are violent but I do it, and I know several other people that use em. I just installed there differential mounts but my car is blocked in garage from snow so I havent drove with them yet. I heard they will actually make the mmr engine mounts less harsh when the mmr diff bushings are installed also.

Wait, Im still confused. I have the MS engine mounts, didnt really notice all that you guys did, but Im still confused on the MS diff mounts. Improvement or not? I see the MMR ones help, but make the driving experiance a bit more... vibrant (vibration...) I do daily drive mine and have spent a long time getting rid of major rattles, and dont want to make more. MS diff mounts help any, and I assume dont make the vibrations much more noticable? I still have issues with major wheel hop and shifting under hard accel (shifter feels like its attached to putty when I shift from 6500-7000, and takes a good second to slip into gear). I figured the engine mounts would have cured most of that. And I even have all new suspension bushings, figured that would also cure most of my wheel hop. Oh well, the quest goes on and on.
Side note, anyone ever used a PPF brace like trackdog sells? Not sure how that would do a whole lot for stiffening, but maybe it does.

I had stock motor mounts and the Energy Suspension diff mounts for a while. The car didn't buzz, but it did vibrate a little more at certain RPM (probably because the diff and tranny aren't lined up correctly). Just doing the diff mounts improved shift feel by quite a bit. The motor mounts improved it by an equally large margin. The shifter is SOLID now.
This is going from broken OE motor mounts to solid pucks of UHMW, though.

Thats good to hear. Im still not sure why I didnt feel this god like change with the MS engine mounts, since my stockers were both broken (or at least split, but not fully broken into 2 pieces). Id surely like to have some improvement in shifting and overall drivetrain slop. Just not as solid feeling as I would like, but then again I guess you cant have solid and smooth at the same time. I will try with the MS diff mounts and see how I like them. I havent even had a look at the stock diff mounts though, maybe they are ragged to **** and back. I guess I could have had a peak by now.

Mazdaspeed Comp motor mounts and Energy Suspension diff mounts in my car: absolutely love them both. I had the MS motor mounts first, made a huge difference keeping the motor and tranny steady, but had little tranny movement still. Getting the diff mounts solved that problem. Also, with this combo, it's still tolerable on a DD IMO; it just vibrates a bit in the 2000-3000rpm range and even then, it's not that bad.
