I won't have any ignition problems or worse detonation doing it like that will I ?
And does anyone else have any helpful tid bits to ad for the swap to make it easier.
just FYI engine will be swapped in about 2 1/2 weeks is the hope as I'll be moving at the end of it the engine it self will be going in n/a just for the brake in and time it will take me to buy everything else and get it ready for the turbo.
any comments or Questions greatly encouraged I'm still pretty new to this so all help is much appreciated

I usually mark the CAS and head with a punch before I take it apart. If you didn't do that, putting it back in "about in the middle" should get you fired and then you can adjust after that. No worries about detonation at idle, it'll just kick and sputter if it's not right.

Well my car comes apart either Friday or Saturday for the swap I'll have roughly 3weeks to finish it and will be doing nothing but packing to to move and the swap for those three weeks. This will be my first engine swap on my own car I've helped friends with theirs before but this will be my first on my own car and I'm not gonna lie I'm getting pretty nurvious and starting to get cold feet

Engine and trans mated

Engine in the car

Everything all bolted in just few odds and ends loving the exhaust wrap look

ITS ALIVE runs great I'm super happy to say I have fixed almost all the minor problems I encountered (exeption being my coolant gauge is no longer reading on dash) and now it's running great and am super happy with the swap next step is finish break in then go turbo

Your life looks a lot like mine for the next month. 1.8 build, swap into 90-93, move. No biggie right!?!?

Excellent work so far I shall say!

I don't think you could put that air filter in a location any worse that that. Unless there is something i am missing, find that thing a cooler home.

^Yeah he has a point. Also, are you worried about paint rubbing off the cam gears and dirtying or affecting the timing belt and such?

Ya the intake location is horrible that was my reasoning for exhaust wrapping the headers I realize that's not exactly a fix for the problem but it's only temporary tell the turbo goes on I also might build a little heat shield and no havnt had any cam issues had to remove valve cover a few days ago to check on everything and if anything the belt is black in the gears but only barely it's been almost unnoticeable but I'll keep everything posted on this of anything
