I agree data is always nice... unfortunately each motor is different and what works on one might not work on another. All it takes is a different flow restriction point somewhere from the intake to the exhaust tip and the results will be different. I hate how forums tend to turn into only black/white, good/bad opinions based on a few data points... in real use it's the grey scale in between the two ends that is the most interesting area.

As most know I have no issue jumping into the deep end on a hunch of what should work better. Where is the fun when you know it will work? I wouldn't hesitate running this manifold if I had a high compression engine with porting, o/s valves and a free flowing exhaust. It's going to work well... we know that from the existing DIY B18 manifold conversions. The real question is how well will these work on engines with less development and at what point are they worth using and that will only come when people lay down the cash and give it a go and report their results.

Also I think it's a great outcome for all of us if more companies are willing to develop new products for our cars. We should encourage any company willing to invest especially when they are selling the product at the price point they are. Whilst I don't like a lot of Skunk2 products, if they develop even 1/10th of their existing range of products for miatas it would be a good thing for our community.

Emilio, is the whammy engine that you ran in Taxi with the ITB's the same as the one you will test the Skunk2 on? I would be super interested to see how ITB's compare against the Skunk2 with a plenum even with an older dyno.

The problem with 50 shades of gray products, is that not everyone wants to spend money when it's not a "sure thing".
"Gimme your $310, and here's a part that might increase power, or not...." lol
But of course you have some valid points.

I don't think anyone here is unhappy sjunk2 made these. we're trying to encourage them to up their game even more

but seriously: why wouldn't you up the boost?
More boost generally means more heat. And at 20psi, I’m not working the turbo to its maximum capacity which is nice too. I’m a big fan of having as big of a safety margin. I was having some cooling issues on a hotter track day when ambient was in the high 80s low 90s so that’s a big reason I don’t want to increase boost, especially until I clear up those problems.

Psyber runs 30psi on an EFR6758. His logs show something like 30F rise on repeated 4th gear pulls (which is really high speeds on a 3.6fd). I bet your cooling issues are from not getting enough airflow to the exchangers, not from putting too much heat through the exchangers. Totally different problem that has very low impact from amount of boost ran. But you probably already know this.

Anyway, back to our regular scheduled programming

If I were you (track guy) I'd probably pick this over the flattop.

I have had mine in my possession for 3 weeks now, but I bought it with that first 100 Early birds or whatever. It looks fairly nice, but I cant do any A/B testing because my engine is not together.

I'm surprised S2 or their distributors wouldn't just do a quick A/B test. We dyno-tested FOUR intake manifolds and two headers back to back in 2015 on a 9 degree day in the middle of winter. It took 13 hours total, but we got the data. The video posted above took more time to edit than just doing some dyno testing. Last year we even swapped cams on the dyno without unstrapping the car.

It seems like they would sell a whole lot more manifolds if they just took a few hours and did this for you guys.

I don't have a horse in the BP manifold race but I do find this stuff inherently interesting so I'm looking forward to seeing someone eventually do it, and I hope it produces some good results.

Yeah, it seems like they would sell a **** ton more too. How many people are waiting on buying one because they haven't seen any definitive proof it actually works well?

After seeing CPC's video, how close the mounting holes are together and how much further out the manifold is from the head concerns me for long term use.

I can say that the TB will end up in the same area with either manifold, so. For whatever that is worth. I am sure the others can confirm that.

Makes you wonder how much effort was put into the development of it if they can't produce a simple A vs B dyno test.

I am sure the Miata manifold will benefit from feedback/development of the Honda products but it's kinda sad for a company to go through all they did and not offfer ANY kind of testing results.
