Flat top is around 10 kilos, not lbs.

Definitely not. Packed up (in a pretty hefty box with TONS of packing and padding material) came up less than 8kg, no TB or brace, so I assume that 12lbs should be about right.

8 kilos is still 17 lbs but hell let's all enjoy the flat top goodness

You might want to re-weigh the flat-top yossi. I literally weighed the two halves of the manifold on a kitchen scale half an hour ago. No other stuff connected to the manifold which might make a small difference (EGR valve etc), but it seemed to me that that would be most relevant comparison.

Hmm so maybe the post office charged me based on volumetric weights... I'll have to check again once I get hold of more of these.

From this shot it looks like a custom brace mounted to the two side bolts on runner #1 could work (maybe even use the other one on the front too?

My first mod though would be to grind off the branding "mount" - it ruins the "organic look" of the manifold and adds lightness.

Yeah, it looks hideous.

I predict it will outperform the squaretop. worst part of the flat top is the turn in behind the throttle body - which is still far better than the 99 intake, which is horrendous in that area. The skunk is wide open behind the throttle body.

agreed, on a few na8 manifolds i messed with we saw 3-5 hp n/a and about 10hp turbo by clearing the path behind the tb. for boost it will work great but n/a it could be equal or less to the squaretop if the runners are to large.

I want to see what happens after someone ports one of these.

Just to illustrate why this is true:

Here's a profile of the flat-top:

Note how the TB sits quite low and there's a narrow channel leading up diagonally to the top half of the manifold.

Here's a front-on view of my ported flat-top:

That channel in the manifold is not as wide as the Skunk2 TB so air is being compressed AND flow redirected.

Bought one, who knows when it'll be here... I have a F.M. kit with a GT2560 running MS2. Not sure when it'll all be installed but if I can get a before and after dyno, I will post it up.

I'm wondering why the mismatch between the throttle body and throat of the intake? Maybe the top of the intake is an off-the-shelf Honda part?

Haven't seen anyone else dyno test it yet... sounds like marketing fluff though.

"Dyno proven, these will make 10+ HP on NA builds and even more on super charged / turbo charged applications. For even better results, pair with the Skunk2 Alpha series throttle body."

Conjecture, rhetoric and hype have always sold more stuff to the American public then science and comparative analysis.

It is. Matches up better with their 70mm throttles.
