Yes it says 1.8, but 5/10 of those years won't work. 89-93 is the 1.6, and there is no 98 Miata. It's just confusing.

And since they clearly "designed" it for the '94-'97, who knows if it'll fit the '99.

Well no, it specifies 1.8 engine in those years chassis. Last I checked a 1.8 swap into a 1.6 wasnt hard.

4AGE guys love this JSP Fab header.

The formula atlantic 4ag header is a bit more snakey, but not REALLY that bad.

The difference with the 4AG headers is that they use long radius bends, not short like that one posted prior.

Exactly. That's a good looking header. No comparison really.

I think a lot of the buddle-of-snakes hype is just because it looks cool. Part of that price of honda kids moving to miatas. The current fad is to make your car look like some sort of WRC/time attack/drift/rocket ship, so looking overengineered is the goal.

Bisiomoto has been making these bundle-of-snake headers for a while:

They do make power, but the gains are not that crazy when compared to a simple tri-Y header:

(Thats on a stock-ish ITR engine btw)

Time for a new thread about snaky headers

Resurrecting this thread because we're diving in to the stupid ITB street motors pool again. I don't remember if I posted this short clip of Crushers 2013 NASA nationals motor on the dyno. We made 190whp or thereabouts.

That was a .020 over 10.4:1 bottom end with blueprinted but basically stock BP4W head. Just big cams, 45mm ITB's and E85. About a year ago we built a new motor just for these ITB's. CNC BP6D +2 O/S head, custom cams, JE 13.5:1 85.5 pistons. It's going into one of our ridealong cars "Taxi" this week. Pretty confident we'll be comfortably over 200whp. I think we might be the first to do so without a stroker or dry sump, maybe not. In any case, if we don't break the 200whp barrier, I will cry and get really drunk.

What do your intake runner lengths come out to with ITBs? Is there room for a stock NA ABS box with them, or do you have to run that NB (?) box?

Also, is there a part number for those JE pistons?

Still using the RB header?

My last incarnation with 305/298 duration combined with a 6speed+4.875 seems to function somewhat (4-5-6 are pretty close). But some days of time by an experienced tuner would probably find 15hp more than the 165-170whp I assume I have now.

But you would of course find a much broader curve stretching into 8.5k or so.
"Learning by doing" is worth a lot more than bench(racing/tuning/building)...

Unless 949 will keep them in stock:

Same 14" as the OEM manifold.
NA chassis it's going into does not have ABS. Crusher had its NB2 ABS pump relocated an inch or two.
Pistons are custom. If you order and engine from us with the 12.0:1 option, you can specify any CR you like for the same price.

We plan to test a few different headers on this engine. An RB, an RB with a merge collector and venturi grafted on and our 1.625" snake header with a new anti-reversion collector.

We took the 153whp blueprinted NB2 engine out of Taxi for the 2.0 ITB motor. Car has a cheap race car paint job. Engine bay was a mess so we tore it part way down for a cleanup and repaint. Try to showcase the 2.0L a bit better as it's worth more than the car at this point.

Please tag posts like that as nsfw; some of us need jobs to emulate what you're doing, Emilio.

Is it 2.0l because of pistons? Or something else?

<p>Ahhh. Makes sense. I saw a list of different displacements with different size pistons the other day and can't find it again.</p>
