So i've been running with the waste gate unhooked for about a month now while i figure out the injectors i had. At wot, with the waste gate unhooked i was at 100kpa and would close up to ~105 by redline...thats little over half a psi boost. Today i pulled the stock maf since i wasnt using it and the standalone was working great.. under the exact same conditions just maf removed, gauge went up to almost 120 by redline. Thats about 15 kpa increase just by removing the stock MAF.

In other words before i wasnt even hitting 1 psi with the wastegate unhooked and now i'm hitting almost 3 psi by just removing the stock maf.
Thats proof enough that the stock maf is a bottle neck at even low boost apps.

Removing the MAF made quite a difference for me back before I turbo'd.

 

Did your MAF have that screen inside it still?

 

Yes sir same temp, same everything...Drove it one way, took it off going back. MAF is unmodified so yes screen is inside.

 

Duh! Never mind. I was referring to an AFM, not a MAF.
