Removing the harmonic damper on an engine is a HORRIBLE idea. Just in case you didn't realize that, it's installed on every production engine in the world for a reason. Deleting it is not a good idea.

As was discovered by the owner of this VW SuperBeetle during the running of the 2012 Sears Pointless:

(For those not familiar with air-cooled VW engines, it is customary for the entire crank pulley to be attached to the crankshaft, not just the central portion of it.)

I have found the answer on a much more friendly forum. Exact same question. Nobody had an issue there.

How do you know you got the correct information without giving the relevant information necessary for anyone to answer your question?

They were nice to him.

Doesn't matter if the info was correct.

We are terrible and need to shape up and be like other forums to gain his approval.

Joe Perez gave you the answer too.

I don't understand why you have to get all butthurt when one forum gives you the answer, and then negatively compare them to another forum which does the same thing.

If you truly built your car such that you don't have space for a harmonic damper, then installing an underdrive pulley will ensure that you will have to truly build your car again.
