Just wondering if there was any noticeable loss of mileage after removing this? I only ask because gas isn't $2 a gallon anymore :P

My thoughts exactly before seeing the $500+ price tag on it.

My canister is out and I'm getting better gas mileage than I was when the car was stock. If it is a loss in mileage it's certainly minuscule at best. Mileage from a recent trip:

237.2 miles/ 8.0 gallons = 29.65 mpg
(80-85mph highway, top up, ac on)

300.8 miles/ 10.8 gallons = 27.85 mpg
(70% 80-85 highway top up ac on, 20% top down highway, 10% city driving)

304.3 miles/10.7 gallons = 28.43 mpg
(85-90mpg highway, top up, ac on)

One cool thread, excellent info to have as reference.

I was thinking about this same mod as I have the engine out, and was wondering about the ulgy "coffee" can.

Plus Plus times Ten Twenty hundred!

A little late to the party, I know.

I just wanted to add that I too did this mod back in the middle of March (took all of about 6 minutes from start to finish) and have logged a few thousand miles since then. I log all my mileage in my iPhone4 with an app called "Gas Cubby". Since the removal of the charcoal canister, there has been absolutely no change in mileage.

I used the existing canister hoses to connect the two hard lines together by cutting it down to side, and used another short piece folded over and zip-tied on the intake. Clean and simple process.

And yes, I got a new fuse box cover. The original one was MIA when I got the car!
