I had a MT meetup in Atlanta in 2010 and we ended up having 12 people show up. It was a good time. We drank beer and dragged people in the water behind the boat out on the lake and made a bonfire that night. We smoked a Boston butt and grilled burgers and dogs and swilled some fine whiskey, too. Someone got stitches and a tetanus shot as well.
I was planning on trying to do it again this summer if you girls are interested in making it official.
Here's the thread from the last one.

Thanks for the help with that, btw.
I just need to set a date for it, I guess. Maybe the new ownership will spring for event t-shirts if we get enough people interested in getting together. Or decals. Or a pack of wieners.
lol.

Offer I coudn't refuse
Not in the least.
I do not like the way IB does business. For starters, they'll usually double the ad rates. That makes it impossible for a small advertiser like 949 Racing and SuperMiata to support as many forums as we do. IB comes in, I let my sponsorship lapse and go elsewhere. There will be larger advertisers taking up the slack. Advertisers that are in no way involved in the community but are able to pay the price and only too happy to see their scrappy little competitors (me) go away.
IB is a huge and highly profitable company. They are also growing fast, gobbling up forums at a startling rate. Turns out there are lots of advertisers willing to pay whatever rates they ask.
You notice this board is using vBulletin 3.73? That's about a 4 year old version. IB bought the previously open source vBulletin software and promptly started charging for updates and tech support. Cruise the web and see how many forums are still on 3.84, including miata.net.
The forum members, contributors are cogs in a wheel, need see nothing and are not really affected. There is a lot more to IB than most forum users are aware of. They are not a well loved company.
So yes, my prepaid annual sponsorship will run out and both 949 Racing and SuperMiata will cease to support this board. I will no longer visit nor post on this board.
I harbor no ill will towards those who profit from the sale of this property. Business is business and everyone has to do what they feel is right for their them.
It's been fun guys. Thanks for your business and support over the years. See you elsewhere on the web and of course, on the track.

Despite the annoying and pointless juvenile NSFW content allowed here, the signal to noise ratio still remains higher than on any other Miata board worldwide. More competent tuners, diagnosticians, drivers, mechanics and active racers here per capita than anywhere else. I say that with some experience as I am a member of or sponsor Miata boards around the world. Whether I like it or not, this is where 949 Racing and SuperMiata belongs.
