Default New Cars for sale/trade Feature

Today we implemented a new feature here on the forum.

Now, if you want to post your vehicle for sale and you head to the New Cars for sale/trade section and click it, you will be given two options, to post an ad or browse the section.

If you opt to use the form to post your car for sale it will ask you for some information that users have said they would like to have in a thread.

Some details required are:

Location
Price
KM
Model
Engine Size
& More

You can provide a description, upload images.

You include all your contact details and if you wish to publish them to your post, you can. You can still edit your thread after as well.

This is still a regular forum post but with more stringent guidelines for that section. User can still post a thread regularly by being in the Cars for sale section and using the post a new thread button.

Please feel free to give us some feed back and hopefully this new feature will make your car hunting or selling experience that much more affective on the forum.

Cheers!

It seems like all that happened was an extra screen came up giving me the two options. Before, I could just click it and go straight to the board.

Also, when I clicked "sell my car" it went to blank screen and nothing happened.

Not trying to sell my car obviously, just checking out the feature and giving you some feedback.

I just did some more testing, I see in IE it fails and gives a blank page.

Let me look into it, there is a feature that you should be seeing, and no, its not a blank page

Thanks to Bond for finding that issue. The issue should be resolved now.

Whats so hard with just clicking "new thread"? And when they click that it directs them to this custom page?

yeah i am with neon on this one rick it does simplify the listing process a whole lot but more often people will be clicking the sub forum to browse and not to sell. So if the new thread option could be replaced with a sell your car button it would be alot better for daily use.

Pain to use.

Don't see that it provides any information that a sensible seller wouldn't already have in their ad.

I'll just wait here while someone finds information that the form requires which isn't in the text of my ad....

The conservatives from Texas vote change it back.

Not that simple, that was the original process that was built.

I will see if there is another way to add the functionality and drop the mid page. But it won't happen today.

So the form is a pain to use? I would think the form makes it 10x easier to get the basic information relayed out that most sensible posters still over look. I do disagree, a form outlining what is required makes it even easier for staff to moderate posts even. There is absolutely no reason that location, cost, mileage etc shouldn't be included in for sale ads now.

The requirements in the form follow basic 'auto trader' type guidelines.

Just trying to make selling a car easier for the user and better for the end consumer. Its going to take more than 5 people for me to can a development project.
If there is a better way to refine the idea, then we will go with that.
I'm already thinking of a way to drop the mid page that may work better. But truthfully, there are ways to avoid the page all together and 1 more click really isn't that bad.

Anyhow, I will see what the developer is saying and if he has time perhaps we can get it modified

I contacted the developer to see if we can either ad the functionality as a new button or just seize the new thread button for that section.

Are you kidding. We have tons of members here that sel cars without putting a location, price, condition, mileage, etc etc. This forces standardization, but you have to click through an extra screen....

But I agree, I do like the idea of clicking new thread and you go to the custom screen. :P

Happy Thanksgiving all.. err. most

Anyhow. Spent some time today between Turkeys sorting this out.

If you now enter the cars for sale section and click new thread, you will be taken to the form.

Hope everyone finds this to be a better solution
