Default "new posts" button

is there anyway to make this button/link work a bit better?
most other sites won't care if i close my browser and then reopen it later.
when i use the "new posts" button on mt.net, it shows me all new posts since my last visit, but nothing before my last visit.
so for example, if i don't open the random pic thread for three days, ideally i'd like the little blue arrow to take me to the posts from three days ago, not from my last visit (in this example, let's say this was 6 hours ago)

i don't think i'm explaining this very well.
i've talked to aaronc7 and cpolly69 about this since we were all on previous forums together.

fyi, the link i'm talking about is this - https://www.miataturbo.net/search.php?do=getnew

as an alternative, this link sort of works, but doesn't give me the blue arrow to take me to the oldest new-to-me post - https://www.miataturbo.net/search.php?do=getdaily

So you want it to show Unread posts... not New posts.

So you are asking for a new button?

if you want to think about it that way, sure.
all other sites i visit that have a "new posts" button function as an "unread posts" button.

Several other sites I visit do function in this manner and I kind of wish it was changed as well. I didn't really understand the whole difference until Philly explained it. I just thought the new posts button had something wrong with it. Seemed like sometimes I was getting all the new posts and other times Im getting just a few of them.....

Unread posts indeed would be nice especially if it can be made default setting for the user cp>subscribed posts.

I like seeing the new posts myself. I don't really care to revisit most of the threads I've seen in the past. Maybe two buttonz?

I think I can make unread show up after new posts when you hit button.

Any luck with unread-subscribed also so the ones in the user cp cant disappear if the browser crashes/**** pops up and overwrites MT... You know common IE crap...?

+1 would like this as well. sometimes i hit new posts then accidently close the window or something, come back a few mins later and only like 2 posts show up when i click new posts

just been too lazy to implement.

it'll happen. Basically the mod is that all your new posts will still show up when you click the button, but once you get through them, any unread post will show up as well.

Holy ****. In spite of visiting here at lunch, I log on to find 18 pages of unread posts.
