Default FreetrackNOIR: TrackIR will go the way of the dinosaur

I just recently got into playing IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 and one of the things that has made this game much more fun to play is FreetrackNOIR. FreetrackNOIR lets you use your webcam for headtracking, without having to make or wear any special hats with IR LEDs on them. It is working pretty well on my lifecam VX3000.

my monitor isnt big enough to utilize this...I like looking directly at my screen when playing games, not the ceiling/walls.

I can look 160 degrees to my right in game by only moving my head 15 degrees or so, letting me keep both eyes on the middle of my screen. It has tunable response curves in the form of a line graph where it maps X rotation of head against X rotation of "in game" head.

Still, I have a 21" monitor, I hardly move my head when looking at the screen and I fidget and reposition constantly--look how you struggle to keep your eyes focused forward.

This would ruin my positve kdr.

I don't think you understand the point of this. The point is not to use your head as an input for aiming, but an input for looking, while the joystick/mouse in your right hand does the aiming. Your left hand can remain on the throttle/keyboard working the movement keys etc instead of the look keys. Besides, the only FPS I can think of using this for would be Arma 2, where situation awareness is prime.

Ive always thought something like this would be great on forza so u can check mirrors and sides.

Microsoft has added this feature with the release of Forza 4 using kinect, but they need to work on the implementation because you can't even look far enough to see the passenger side mirror at maximum sensitivity. At least, last time I tried it.
