Random gaming thread (anything for gaming)

One of the companies I work for gives me a computer budget to spend every year, so this year I decided to build a gaming computer with it. Not that I play many games... just Skyrim VR in the last 5 years, but maybe I will try something else. I generally suck at them anyways.
Last year I got a Zyphyrus ROG laptop and was not happy with it. Gets a BSOD about 1/10 boots, WIFI issues, can't run it hard without overheating.... It gets downgraded to web browsing and anime viewing / manga reading to replace my MAC PRO that needs a new battery. Also bought a new VR setup with it, but I have only used it 1 time. Part of selling my Miata is to make a permanent space for VR gaming.
New computer:
Intel Core I7 12700 processor at 5 GHZ
ASUS Z690P MOBO
Kingston Black Beast 32GB memory
MSI GeForce RTX 3080
MSI MAG Coreliguid P240 CPU cooler
Case, power supply, etc.
Re-using some HDs I have on hand. 500 GB SSD, 2TB HDD
The only thing I thought about changing is the video card. Don't know if the 3090 is worth 2x the cost of the 3080.
FWIW, I am old. The first RPG I can remember playing was Ultima on an Apple IIe with an external floppy drive. "Built" my first computer back in the 90's to overclock and play NFSPU. Might want to try a MMORPG, but there is that whole I suck at gaming thing. What RPG type games are popular now? I prefer VR, but am not going to let that stop me from trying other things.

Been playing a lot of Conan Exiles lately. Really overlooked that one for a long time from the survival/crafting/fighting genre. Cool base building but DLC heavy for the good stuff. A little buggy at times, but we've really enjoyed it. Very much like Valheim with improved graphics and more diverse enemies/locations/environments.

like making an output. cool. but like who cares, there's no point to it. even building your own star craft; for one it's a pita to build, and for second, like it doesn't really do much for you in the game.
I found some awesome one shot kill pistol on a mission, and never used any other weapon. i got the mantis suit so never modded or used any other suits.
so the game just consisted of randomly stumbling on a mission from someone in town, or one of the main factions, and doing the same thing over and over again. go to a place, kill some pirates, return back, collect small reward.
and there's no ******* ground vehicles, so some of the missions when you have to travel far on ground are a pita, so i used console commands to give me unlimited jetpack so i could at least float there more quickly.

It's amazing how good kids can be at this game. My youngest has some secret ability to dodge all bullets, so she goes around collecting reboot cards. I do no build as I'm not about to learn that skillset at my age.

if it was multiplayer it could be fun. like there's no point to half the things they threw in currently.
