Has anyone played the custom tower defense game... so addicting.

 

i still just plain suck. I'm awful against terran, they can build up an army so fast and just wipe me out without a bat of the eye.

 

finally getting good at play zerg. the only problem I'm having is when a terran turtles like crazy. I can't get a nydus worm in anywhere, brood lords open a gap just big enough for a few seconds before i get viking rushed, and they tend to have tons of siege tanks every where. I'm thinking the only true stratagy to that would be rush them sooner.

 

In 2v2 if I have a terran on my side we rape. Zerg never really seems to work well with my void rush. last night me and 2 buddies were triple cannon rushing lul. What we really needed was a 2 gate and a double cannon rush. But they wouldn't listen.

 

i can finally deal with the 2 void rush that used to kill my economy. Cannon rushes still annoy me, but that's why you scout and get a good perimeter. If some jackass like you trys to cannon rush me, all drones out on the attack. destroy pylon!

 

if i spam void, zerg/terran demolish me fast, even with upgrade. only time void spam works is against another protoss. i just feel like everytime I'm attacked they rick roll me, anytime I try to same, I'm worthless.

 

Stop trying to voidray cheese. Just get a big meaty group of lots/stalkers/immortals and depending on what ur going against collis.

 

void rays are cheese, but cannon spam isn't?

go watch BigT on teamliquid when you get a chance. He streams his games quite a bit, mostly commentates though. Pretty decent toss player. I've learned a lot by watching him.

 

Anyone tried out the 4-gate rush? I almost had it work one night in a 3v3 but I was just a little too intoxicated and it didn't end up happening. I think this is the right vid.

 

my brother does a real good 4 gate rush, but he drops it right outside their ramp, or somewhere close and hidden. then he drops 2 cannons and just pushes out z's. he can wrap a game up in about 8 minutes.

I do a 7 pool rush. get a spawning pool with only 7 drones, add another drone to keep it at 7, drop a overlord, and by the time the overlord is done, the pool is built, i have enough for 6 zerglings, and i rush those out to my enemies base. If the guy is a noob that doesnt know how to counter, I win within 4 minutes. if they counter, i rush hydras and mutas.

 

Ya I have been trying the 4 gate rush but never have succeeded. I'm just not fast enough.

 

i'm really shitty at macro'ing my builds, or i used to be. It took me a few games just to get the science of doing a 7 pool rush down right. now i can have 6 lings within the opening minutes killing economy.

 

just failed one, then succeeded.

 

hell yeah, won another 4 gate!

As for the comment about voids are no good vs zerg or terran that is def false if you do it right. I'm about to get into diamond league with voids being my best strat so far. I only play toss really. I sometimes will do stalkers + blink if they look like they are doing voids... but usually end up building voids after I kill theirs to rape them.

 

So I am about to break down and buy SC2. I have never in my life played SC so I will be a complete noob. What specific videos and tutorials should I start looking at now to learnt he basics?

 

Play around in the campaign, it'll get you started off on the basics for Terran at least. Play some single player against the Computer A.I. if you want to practice other races. As for youtube, HuskyStarcraft and HDStarcraft have some good commentary videos. Just search for sc2 tutorial on youtube and you'll find your fill of videos.

Most important of all, just have fun. ^_^

 

If you have played c&c before start with Protoss. The big thing is to learn a build order. It's a good idea to learn what units are good against each other. Then you can scout and use other build orders to counter their builds lol. I lost 5 in A row last night. Three teammate lag outs, and 2 cause they spotted my voids early.
