Lots of great advice in this thread.
First step is to get up to speed on maintenance. That's been heavily covered in other areas of the internet, but here's a great summary written by Mr. Emilio himself: https://supermiata.com/maintenance-f...e-driving.aspx
Then you need a roll bar. Get a good quality one like Hard Dog. They pop up used from time to time at large savings over new, I'd strongly recommend going that route if you can find one. We sell new ones if you can't find a used one.
From the budget that's left after doing those two things, get the best quality suspension you can buy - probably DIY bilsteins I'm guessing.
Then wheels and tires.

First I just want to say thanks to everyone in this thread, the advice is really helpful. I’m in the peninsula (Redwood City) and any local resources or shops that anyone knows of would be nice to know.
