7mgte swap
#21
Um... No I'm not trying to build the fastest thing on the road just something that will be quick for what it is. I understand that everyone has their own opinions but so far all I've seen is people ragging on everything I've said and nobody looking at the unique qualities other than the guy doing the 2j swap. I agree he has alot more going for him with his swap but the thing is once I'm done with this and the engine is in I will have a very reliable quick little car that has alot of room for improvements down the road. If I wanted I could easily throw a 2j in this once the mounts for the 7m are built all i would have to do is get the mounts for the 2j to fit the supra mk3 and it would slide right in, as I stated before i just sorta had this engine fall into my lap along with a new set of forged pistons and some simple upgrades for it and everyone i know said it would be neat.

Try uploading some pictures of your build, there aren't any I can find on your photobucket.
Then use the img code to post them directly to mt.net, we'll take you much more seriously. And don't mind 18psi or Pusha, they're just lonely.

Good luck OP, but damn if I haven't heard the "I already have this engine so I'm going to blaze a new trail making it fit" line before. I mean really, take a step back from the situation and consider that LS1, SR20, etc. swaps are easier, make as much or more power, and are just as unique (Ok, maybe V8 isn't that unique anymore, but still).
You could easily sell that engine and the forged pistons to a Supra guy and start over with parts that YOU have picked to build a car that won't disappoint you.
Not meaning to flame, I just think you're letting this free engine business cloud your judgement. Making some mounts is easy. Hope you're really good with wiring if you plan for the engine to run once you've mounted it.

The 7MGTE will work I just hate to see someone do all that work to have to switch it out down the road. The good thing is this will make it easy to swap to a 2j down the road. Also I drove my car na when I first got it started and the torque and hp increase is awesome from stock so even a decent 7M will make the car roll out. I am just bias to a 2J. If you put pistons in it and shim the hell out of the oil pump it should be good for a while. My only suggestion would be to invest in a better turbo down the road at 15 psi the ct26 is just blowing hot air and they get heat soak really bad. Other than that take lots of pics so we can pick apart your build.lol Good luck let me know if you need any help.
