Default 99-00 N/A questions

As some of you know I got me a DD, a 2000 Miata 5-spd. Great little car and I have been sorting through the many little problems.

One being that some dumb **** installed a POS cold air intake (warm air more like it). I placed the filter right over the exhaust header, excellent idea. And it was blue!

Here is the new setup eliminating the blue piping and installing the AIT sensor in the filter neck. Looks good but car now runs like crap???

I getting a code and have to pull it, (was getting a code before this also so I don't think that was it, seems the CAT has fallen out oops).

Here is the new setup. Anyone else done this? Is the MAS to close to the throttle? Someone told me that would be an issue. IDK.

Thanks!

I used to have that exact same setup on my 99 (with the 90 degree elbow and filter on the TB)
mine ran fine, so Im not sure whats wrong with your setup. Im inclined to think it isnt the intake.
Also, GET A TURBO. hahahahaha

The way you positioned it is great and should have no problems. I agree: its not the intake.

F.Y.I. Make sure you put the MAF facing the right direction.

So was that the problem? Cause based on your pics air is flowing in the opposite direction thru the maf in the second pic.
