No, the owner was an M.netter, they're probably crying over letting it go for so little, it was a collectors car after all.

Yes,but how many of those morons spend 20K on a car that's only worth 3-4 thousand at the most.

The only thing that car will be collecting is dust, not a higher resale value than what that moron paid.

Holy jesus. I cannot believe that anyone would waste that much money just because it comes in a different(uglier imo) color.

Good luck ever getting that money back, moron.

You know, they say "something is worth only as much as someone is willing to pay for it". So yea for that one single moment before he handed over the check for 20k that car was worth 20k. Sadly now its worth like 3 - 4 grand at the most unless there is another sucker that hasnt made himself known yet.

I guess I just don't understand the concept of collecting cars for the sake of owning and not using. Jesus that's like having a harem of hot chicks you never ****, or only **** really gentle like once a year. That's a fucked up waste.

Well, I'm pretty confident it will get used. Tom seems to think that the car should be put in public and I think it will get driven. It's got 77K so a few thousand a year won't hurt it. I don't know if you have seen the part lately where it is already willed to his community college where he works. Good deal. They will benefit from this purchase.

I disagree with the bulk of you on this. I think this was an astute purchase. I would have considered it but I was sure it was going to go to one of three people on M.Net and it went to my first choice of the the three.

It really is more than "just a yellow car". I think that some of you will change your outlook on things in 10-20 years. Not that your view is wrong. Mine was the same as yours when I was in my 20's and 30's. And, I'm not talking down to anyone here. Things change. Financial situations change. Outlooks change. As opposed to Bob Hill, Tom doesn't flash an e-wallet, but I would assume that many would be jealous of the cars in his sig, including the NSX he bought a few months ago. He seems to be a low key guy that TRULY enjoys Miatas. That is good enough for me.

No kidding. It's the only one like it. It's also got a fully documented history, unusual provenance, lots of significant car-related people associated with it, etc. It seems like the seller and new owner made a deal they are both happy with, so let them be happy. There are far too many Miatas for them to be collector cars in general, but this particular one is truly unique. It might be worth a lot some day (maybe not) but that's not why he bought it.

Btw, if you don't like yellow, fine. There are lots of people that couldn't care less about a turbo either. To each their own. No need to call the guy an idiot.
