Has anyone here an APEXI AVCR Boostcontroller?

I have such a EBC since 6 month in my 1.6 NA Turbo and have a little Problem. If i type in 0,25 bar and 30% DutyCycle (it´s the lowest possibility), than i get in reality about 0,65 bar boost. When i type in 0,35, then i get 0,75 bar and so on. The boostcontroller and the solenoid is working fine, but the boost is always about 0,4 bar higher, then the in settings.

Does anyone know, wich settings are possible, to solve my problem?

I use an AVC-R.

What PSI is your wastegate? You can't go below what the wastegate spring dictates (internal or external).

If your spring rate is indeed lower than your target boost, and no amount of lowering the duty cycle setting will help, then it is overboosting. You need to find a way to get more exhaust channeled through the wastegate.

If you turn the boost control setting off under the main menu, what pressure does it run? You can monitor that in the monitor view, using peak and hold.

 

I have a external wastegate with original 8PSI. The complete Kit is an old Begi 4.2 Turbo with adjustable wastegate.


How can i do this? Should i throw on the threaded rod of the wastegate?

Then i have 0,55 bar or 8 PSI of Boost.

 

As far as I know, you will not be able to run a lower boost setting than what the wastegate spring dictates. The boost controller cannot make the wastegate open and sooner, just later.

If you swap in a weaker wastegate actuator you should be able to gain control of your boost level.

 

OK, but the spring of my actuator (=wastegate?) can´t be very strong, it´s an adjustable actuator like here (http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?dept=41). I can increase und reduce with the screw on the threaded rod of the actuator.

Which actuator would fit at my system?

 

Sorry, I missed that yours was adjustable.

I'd decrease the amount of boost the actuator allows with the AVC-R turned. I'm not sure if that means increasing or decreasing the amount of pre-load (I've used external wastegates exclusively).

Get the car to maintain low boost solely using the adjustment on the actuator, then start upping the level with the AVC-R. In my experience the AVC-R does not do well if your wastegate boost level and target boost level are very close. The minimum 30% duty cycle will cause the target boost to overshoot.

 

my AVC-R is a pain in my *** also...... I've had it turned "off" for about 4 months because It all of a sudden started overboosting with no changes to my settings or mods.

I run a .4 bar spring in my Tial external, and with the controller "off", the car boosts at least .6 bar.....lately a steady .8.....

I need to mess with it a bit more, but I haven't had the time...

 

Thank you for you tip. I could solve the problem now. I have adjust the actuator and throw on the threaded rod, to get less boost. Now i can control the boost with my AVCR correctly.
